Because I've seen the reports etc. I know BP is the best petroleum company out there yet people like to turn them into a corporate version of satan.

since the gulf is much already atlantic pretty , i'd prefer that didn't get fucked too the fucked .

The ocean is a big place, and it recovers quickly. The shoreline will take a bit longer. It will have little effect on the national, global economies. The fishing and tourism industries in those areas are in trouble. But that affects a very tiny percentage of the population.

Who is the biggest loser in this? BP. BP has more incentive than anyone to make sure this never happens again. Why more regulation?

I voted NO, dumbass.

What the fuck makes you think otherwise? Besides stupidity?

You are quite narrow-minded; that won't do you any favors in life; trust me.

Estimates are between 20-40million most people are going with the higher, plus its not where near being stopped

Hell, existing regs weren't being enforced. Those charged with enforcing the regs were bought off, as were the politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Seriously, enforcement/monitoring needs stepped up, and corruption rooted out.

As for preventing this from recurring, I know technology exists to shut off the flow from down in the well. It's expensive, and the industry lobbied against it being mandated.

Well, time to make it a requirement. If it cuts into the ol' profit margin, or bumps the cost of gas a few cents, so be it.
