bike at idle warmed up completely my damn motor sounds like a sewing machine.... and gets louder and faster as you go down the road, dont matter what speed your doin.
any clues... had the stealer look at the cam shaft tensioner cause thats where to me it sounded like it was coming from. the tech said everything looked fine and new, oh yeah shes an 06 flhtci with the 95" kit from harley.

so again today in traffic trying to get to the courthouse in downtown houston my rpm's decide to go from the usual 800 down to 400-450 and tried dying. whats up with that?
i have 93 octane at all times in it. along with the power commander and v&h slip ons and k&n filter...

i dont know what to do.... any help would certainly be appreciated..

thank you in advance

No idea what the problem with your bike is but could you please tell me more about that sewing machine, I've been wanting one for heavy duty work.

Ya know when you go to the doctor and say you have heart problems they make you wear a box for 48 hours that records everything.....

Ya think they would invent one that plays back the same kinda data from the ECM......if anyone invents that...I want dibs....

Does it really make a noise like an angry sewing machine, or is that the sound of a V-Twin motor? Your motor is going to make noise anyway you look at it. As long as its not knocking, grinding, or tapping Then IMO its fine.....But it dropping out or stalling could be because the motor is hot and it has a cut off point. So if the motor gets to hot it won't kill its self.

It's suppose to sound like that. WHen it was a smaller engine you may not have heard it so much. Now that you have gone bigger it's probably hitting a little harder than it used to with the more aggressive cams. Mine sounds like a sewing machine also much more so now that I have gone to a 107. Also you may or may not have the high temp cylinder shut off on your bike. The shut-off temp is over 300 deg and shuts down the rear cyl. If you do have it that's probably what happened when your idle dropped in half and sounded like crap. You can disable it thru the tuner I think. You may want to invest in an oil cooler if you don't already have one. Stay thirsty my friend.

I would agree with most about the rpm's dropping however, since you stated it almost died on you I would be looking elsewhere.

Just general info, if an engine just quits no warning no nada - 9x's out of 10 it's electrical. If it stutters, drops in power however you want to describe it, it's usually a fuel system related. But is you have that pizzed off sewing machine sound I would have it checked out by a mech. that actually knows what they are doing (not saying you don't but I don't know your mechanical background).

BTW, have you walked into your wife's sewing room and made sure she didn't swap motors on you?

Almost every twinkie motor sounds like an industrial sewing machine. Some are worse than others.

How to lose the sewing machine.

1: 50w dino
2: +15 Baisley oil spring
3: louder exhaust
4: if the first three don't work, take the windshield off

The current theory on lifter noise is aerated oil. It makes some sense to me, and it's possible that better lifters will cut the valvetrain noise some.
