announcing your pregnant....?

Yesterday I was at a family friends wedding shower. My MIL's sister was there. While there other family members were talking about names for the baby (i'm 5 months pregnant). I was also mentioning the belt I was wearing to keep my tummy comfortable. the actual words "I'm having a baby or I'm pregnant" were never spoken...it was all in a pre understood language that I was pregnant. My husbands aunt (MIL's sister) was very confused trying to put two and two together; finally admitting that she didn't know that I was pregnant!! I felt AWFUL!!! Of course when we found out we were pregnant we called my mom, his mom and our siblings...but it never occurred to me that I had to call each and every family member...I assumed that my dear MIL would have made that phone call to HER sister! Was I wrong for not calling? She didn't make a big deal out of it, but I could tell that she was probably uncomfortable and felt out of the loop. I apologized and tried to make light of it by joking with my MIL, shaming her for not calling her sister. Was it my responsibility? In my family....I would just expect the word to spread....after of course the immediate family members were told, then its ok for the word to go out? Some thoughts on this situation...thank you!
