Annie Nominations

HORRID choices in the movie voice acting category. Nothing for Tangled. Cameron Diaz as Fiona over Mandy Moore as Rapunzel? REALLY? REALLY?

:crying:

Uh.......I like what movies they picked and.......I like Kirby's epic yarn and.....Thats about it. I've never particularly liked what they've picked for anything other than movies. The fact Sym-Bionic Titan was only nominated for character design and Fanboy&ChumChum nominated for best...ANYTHING? Whatever, I didn't expect anything better, really.

I know I'll get flak from The Wolverine (and other people more level-minded and less paranoid then me) for bringing this up, but dang did the Gold Sponsors dominate this year. Dreamworks even seems to be the largest contender in some of the Television Production categories, and where they aren't, Nickelodeon is. I understand why Disney and Pixar aren't getting as much attention as they have before, but it seems like Cartoon Networks crop ought to have more of a prescence then dying horses like Fairly OddParents.

Also, specifically, The Simpsons being nominated for anything is laugable (though unsurprising) and Fanboy & ChumChum getting a nod for character designs makes my head hurt. I like the Winsor McCay Award recipients, though. I guess that's something.

The TV voice acting nominations are really weak.

Regular Show is nominated...for best animated television production for children?

Anytime a Laika production gets nominated, they should automatically win. :anime:

Seeing Despicable Me int he same contention as a Pixar and Dreamworks film is enough to please me.

Heavy Rain going up against Kirby, Shank and Limbo still makes me laugh. It's not so much a game as it is a running joke.

Well... technically it is intended for children.... but just technically.

It's great that Regular Show, Adventure Time and Sym-Bionic Titan all got noticed in their first year on television and in the case of Regular Show and Titan, in mere months. Fantastic.

Wow, "Coyote Falls" got nominated? But I am not sure if it will win... it seems NONE of the Looney Tunes productions since the Annies started have ever gotten an Annie Award... kinda sucks ,really :(

I'm actually pretty impressed and quite glad with the nominations this year, lot's of my favorite animated projects look to have made the cut and some of the ones that I had hoped wouldn't have didn't. Kind of cool, I can't wait to see the winners when they are announced.

Oh lord... Fanboy and Chum Chum is up for no less than three awards?

I guess charm and good taste aren't necessary qualifications in order to be nominated. I'm gonna assume the thought process behind a few of these choices was no more sophisticated than throwing darts at a wall, and seeing which ones stick.

Tell me about it.

If they wanted to nominate Jeff Bennett, I can think of at least five other voices he does, off the top of my head, that are a lot better than anything associated with FB&CC. Personally, I would have gone with either Kowalski from Penguins of Madagascar, or any one of his roles from Brave and the Bold (Joker, Captain Marvel, etc.).

Now you know why I tell people never to use awards or critics to judge a show.

I'm still trying to figure out what 'animated video game' means and why they chose 4 random choices.
