Anne of Green Gables- Kindred Spirits and all!

Ah, Anne of Green Gables was a staple of childhood - and still is, since nothing can make university better than Anne. It's my ultimate comfort read. And no matter how many times I read the book, I still wanted to punt Josie Pye through a wall - I can't be alone in this, surely? (My favourite ones were definitely the first and the third book, Anne of the Island; so romantic. So chock full of Gilbert. And angst and ahhhh now I want to read it again, hah).

Gilbert, of course, is still one of my literary boyfriends. He's outlasted quite a few, the charmer ;)

Still. Okay. On topic. Movies!

The first owned. The second was all right. I despised the third; thought they sort of destroyed everything and twisted the plot so much that I couldn't really enjoy it all that much. I sort of just sat in horror watching that and never watched it again after the first viewing. In my world, the movies ended with the second one.

Oooo. Anne of Green Gables movie thread. :yay: :D

I  all three movies. I have them all on DVD.

:sigh: The actors that portray Anne and Gilbert are perfect.

I loved the book, but I've only seen bits and pieces of the movie. One day I'm gonna have to buy it or rent it. If it's as good as the books then it will be money well spent.

I loved this movie I watched it the forst time when I was 9. I even read the book.

Here are my fave Sceans:
When Anne hit Gilbert in the head with her slate.
When She helped save the baby
When Matthew Died
What can I say I love it all but that is all I will mention.

 that was a good scene. Poor Anne thought got punished and couldnt be around Diana. That was a sad scene. The movie is so long but you cant seem to take your eyes away from the screen once you start watching it.

Miss Shannon: I don't know how I missed it before but I love that animation!

You are most welcome!
It can be. But, you have to try to do some little things to keep you're calm.

I have a link to where I'm going to store those character biographies I mentioned. I put them in my signature. They're not really significant, so, I won't post here. But, I do have this amazing old article from Cinema Canada on an interview with Kevin Sullivan, the maker of Anne 1, 2 and 3 that is rather amazing. It's long and I've had for ages. But, I shall be good and transcribe. Would you believe I was in college when I stood at that photocopy machine with all my quarters to photocopy that article from the Cinema library. Can you see real love? I really loved it. :D

I didn't see any of the movies until 2 years ago when PBS was doing one of their telethons and they played it. I couldn't tear my eyes off the screen long enough. But PBS shows the parts at random times so you have to keep tuning in to see the rest. I finally did get to see all the way through the third movie, and still remained intrigued. I just found the whole story to be so endearing and honest.

There are so many fabulous scenes but one of my favorites is when Diana gets drunk when she is visiting Anne. Just thinking about it makes me laugh uncontrollably.
