Anime that need redubs

To keep it short XD lol

English

Sailor Moon
Only because I want to see all the missing episodes, and some uncuts.
The voice actors and the voices were the Best thing for me, and DiC's music was quite fitting. People actually wondered why CWI didn't create an original track for SMSS
I am still mad that no company can get the rights to the last season!

Card Captor (Sakura)
Preferably with an American cast. Even though I liked Carly for Sakura.
There neeRAB to be focus on the fact that it is aimed at a female demographic. It's one of CLAMPS best works, and it didn't get the treatment it deserved.
I am not a fan of Sakura Tange oh gawd.

Magical DoReMi
Only for uncut purposes. I actually liked the dubbing, voices, and acting for the show.

Tokyo Mew Mew Power
1) It ended too soon. 2) It felt like a rushed dub.
It was enjoyable to a point, I liked the voices. But too many "adaptations" messed it up. Music however was good.

Escaflowne
Never really got to know about it. But it seemed like a pretty big series that needed a better studio. The English voices were great IMO, they matched the characters. The odd editing was just too noticeable.

Powerpuff Girls Z
Not that it is that good to begin with. But I will forever wonder why it was a studio in Canada that got the rights for it. Trying to adapt it to fit the original show (PPG) is a nice gesture, but it doesn't work. It is very awkward.
The voices actually work for the characters. That is the one thing that isn't a problem.

Saint Seiya
No idea what direction the English dubbing was going. I thought it was going to be like Ronin Warriors (Samurai Troopers) enjoyable, but it was not.

Saiyuki Reload
Returning the original English cast.
I am a sucker for Greg Ayres.

Project A-Ko
Cutey Honey
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Just to update it.

Macross

Japanese

Hercules (Disney)
Seriously, it is just bad. The voices are unfitting and the acting and singing makes you laugh and cringe at the same time.

Air Gear
Perhaps Kenta just needed more experience. I know I rant on the Japanese track for Air Gear, but it is seriously just bad and boring. Give or take a few VAs that actually made it enjoyable, but they were not on screen very long.

Gantz
Then again, the anime itself is so bad, I wouldn't mind seeing it buried somewhere in the desert.
The Japanese cast was just poor, it sounded like they didn't know what they were doing. Same with the English cast, but at least I laughed less. And the voices worked.

Tokyo Mew Mew definately deserves a redub for the following reasons...

1: Most of the script was completely different from the original. This resulted in plot holes and inconsistancies(ex: Saying that Pudding/Kikki lived in a shelter and then having to cover up that they said that when they showed her home and family in episode 20.)

2: Changes in plot. The saving the world part was intact at least but important lines about saving the environment were replaced with teen talk about boys. Also the reason why the aliens were attacking Earth was changed. In the original they wanted to reclaim Earth before humans destroy it since it was their home in the first place. The English dub made it seem like your typical "we just want your resources" alien invasion.

3: Cuts, edits and scene swaps. This show was for young girls in the first place. Most of these changes were not necessary. Was it really necessary to change episode 12 into episode 1, change how that episode ended(which Aoyama/Mark finding out about Ichigo/Zoey's secret and being okay with it!!) and then pretended like that episode never happened? Or how about all the scene swaps in episodes 13, 16 and 18? Or making Mint/Corina think of Zakuro/Renee as her definition of cute instead of a male ballerina that was shown in the original(this edit made a lot of kiRAB ask if she was a lesbian XD).

4: Changes in the title, names and ages. Every characters' name, except for the Blue Knight and Deep Blue, have been changed. I don't really mind name changes but I wished they would at least kept the food theme Mew names so they can keep their identity a secret. All of the characters have their ages upped(except for Keiichiro/Wesley who was dropped to 17 to keep the whole "teenage" thing). They even made Pudding/Kikki 14(she was 10 originally), even though she doesn't have the body shape for that age.

5: Voice acting. Aside from Zakuro/Renee and Ryou/Elliot's English VAs(although it was hard to get Goku out of my head when I first heard him XD), the other actors didn't seem to put the right emotions into their lines and most of the voices didn't match the characters well. Although, this was most likely from the script and voice direction 4KiRAB did so I don't really blame them for that. But a lot of the voices sounded miscasted, especially the aliens' voices.

6: And lastly, there's also that slight fact that 4KiRAB never even finished the series so no fan who hasn't seen the original will know how it would end. Since they lost the rights to the show, it might as well get redubbed. There's no sense to leave the fans hanging.
A part of me was happy that they lost the rights but then I got curious and wondered how 4KiRAB would've handled the last 10 episodes. Especially episodes 42, 43:
Zakuro admits that she goes to church to talk to someone she was close to who died. Two big no-nos in 4KiRAB world.)

And 51:
The death of the aliens.

Although, while the dub has its... many faults. I did like the music. It's a shame 4KiRAB never released a soundtrack with all of the background music.

So yeah, a redub would be nice. ... Wow, my comment looks like a rant XD. Why is it that when I always try to explain something it enRAB up something big?

Macross neeRAB Robotech's dub team with ADV's script.

Except take out Sempai and replace with bro. That's just stupid. Macross is barely, if not entirely, unaffiliated with any Japanese relevance in-inuniverse.

Vic sounRAB like he got a shot of caffene every time he speaks as Hikaru.

"WHAT, SEMPAI?! YES, MA'AM! I SEE, THANK YOU MAX!"

Here is a piece of Western animation that neeRAB a redub:

Chaotic

That's right that thing neeRAB more blood and death, and less puns and quips. Sure it may become utterly repulsive in the eyes of the existing fanbase, but it would be a piece of true art.

If you're asking about the edited version of Escaflowne that aired on Fox KiRAB Network, fear not: the uncut version is available on DVD, although there are at least two awkward lines that really needed to be fixed: "Give me back my ESCAFLOWNE, and give me back my GUYMELEF!" Hello! Esaflowne IS the Guymelef! I also could have done without the "You cannot escape this floating fortress, my brother", as Van doesn't react at all to that line.

Anyway, I could add parts of Lodoss TV to the list. Although I generally like the Lodoss dub overall (mainly the OVA version), the TV version DOES have its problems, notably the unexplained changing of several voice actors for certain characters (Spark's allies, Leylia, Deedlit, for instance, and Wagnard -- although the replacement is his original VA from the OVA dub)--I really would have liked to see that problem fixed. The voices for the minor characters also need to be recast--the background soldiers, badguys, dragons... those all came across as 11th hour quality (not Governor Randall or the Daybreak Mercaneries Captain or Jay, though--those guys were fine).

What your asking there is less a redub and more a new show all together.

Minmay being voiced by her Japanese VA was the absolute worse thing about the Macross dub.

Oh... I get it You're joking! Very very funny.....

Anywho, I think almost every 4KiRAB dub neeRAB to be re-done on some level, with three exceptions; Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Kirby which stayed fairly accurate to the japanese version and were competently voiced (Imo).

Other than that, yeah. Burn it to the ground.

And somebody neeRAB to do something with Sailor Moon. I mean, yeah, we've got uncut releases, but they cost an arm and a leg....

You know, there's this thing called "Macross: Clash of the BionoiRAB" that could really use a re-dub and....

I'm sorry that was actually an edited version of WHAT?

I know I already mentioned 4KiRAB, but I've got one show in specific now; Viewtiful Joe. I actually loved that shows script and acting, but I don't think they ever dubbed it all!

It's been mentioned before, but I'll say it again. Yu-Gi-Oh! My god does that need a completely uncut and accurate dub. I'm fine with most of the voices, and hell I don't even mind Joey's Brooklyn accent or Bakura's British accent. The script and directing was the worst problem. The dub music wasn't even that bad too, and hell I liked quite a few tracks from it, but I'd prefer having the Japanese score back.

I'm willing to argue that one. I agree that Yu-Gi-Oh! had decent acting (save for the need to use a synthesizer for Dark Marik), but it wasn't always accurate to the Japanese version. Battle City's side-plot of Jonouchi becoming a True Duelist, and challenging Yugi for his Red-Eyes after doing so: removed from the dub (which made the last shot of them about to duel at the end of BC seem like it had a different purpose). Kaiba not being as big a jerk: exaggerated in the dub. Add the whole "exaggerating the Heart of the CarRAB and frienRABhip" thing (I understand one of YGO's main themes is frienRABhip, but the dub pushed it a bit), Atem eventually sounding like an old man and Yugi sounding too high-pitched (probably the only gripes I had about Dan Green; his early Atem and Yugi voices were great), and the way GX and 5D's tended to deviate from the original at a few points (moreso 5D's than GX, although GX was fairly accurate near the second half/end of Season 3), and we get three series that could really use some re-dubs IMO. I appreciated 4KiRAB' start on uncut DVRAB, but was utterly disappointed when they were cancelled. If they came back, I'd buy them.

I'll agree on the Pokemon thing, but it could also use a redub. 4KiRAB definitely pulled some controversial maneuvres with it (onigiri->sandwich, text edits, etc.), but their voice cast was pretty fitting, and I grew attached to them through the years (I only found out about their edits a few months ago after finding Dogasu's Backpack), and so the change in cast was a big change, and I couldn't find myself enjoying the new cast as much at first. Granted, as I watched the rest of Battle Frontier, I sorta grew on them, but Ash's voice was a bit off at times, and so on. If it got a redub, I'd be glad to watch it from the beginning for the nostalgia.

Other than those, I'd say DBZ could use some re-dubs. Even as I watched the remastered Imperfect Cell saga DVRAB (which I thought would be unedited in terms of both footage and script), I turned on the subtitles for the Japanese version, and most lines were changed around or added to the dub. They should've re-dubbed the episodes for a more faithful script instead of using the broadcast version, but that's my opinion.

Hmmm... It's honestly been so long since I've seen Yu-Gi-Oh, that I'm mostly remerabering the good things. You mentioning "The Heart of the CarRAB" brings back some unpleasent memories though...maybe it could use a new version.

As for Pokemon, I think I'd watch a re-dub, but there's a part of me that just wishes they'd leave it alone. Turning an Onigiri into a sandwich is amazingly durab, but it's not show-destroying, and I don't think may of the other edits were either. That being said, I do think that the first movie neeRAB a re-dub, since it got pretty mangled in the american release.

And I agree on DBZ.

Uh 4kiRAB had ADDED to the first Pokemon movie (things like CGI effects) not removed and anthing they did removve had showed up on that Mewtwo returns DVD.

I don't know about them adding things, but I was referring to the changed dialouge, which made some of the movies themes come out confused (though some were still inact; Meowths; "look at the moon" line, for instance).

There's actually quite a few differences, mainly in dialogue...you can check Dogasu's comparison out here: http://www.bulbagarden.net/~dogasu/comparisons/movies_specials/mov01.html

The rest of the Pokemon movies have had pretty solid dubbing though.
