I think your main problem is you're watching really shitty anime. try some of the following:

Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Ninja Scroll
Helsing
Ghost in the Shell
Serial Experiments: Lain
FLCL
La Blue Girl(heh)

Even the original Bublegum Crisis is pretty good if you get turned on by hot chicks in battle armor.

And Neon Genesis Evangelion is awesome, but don't expect to understand it unless you're willing to watch all 8 billion episodes and the movie.

All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku is goofy as hell, but entertaining.

I gotta step in here because I love "Sailor Moon." It's just motherfuckin' great, no matter how many truly hardcore, awesome, in-the-know, anime fan dickheads come out and say it's crap and whatever-the-fuck-else is so much better OMG U WATCH SALLER MOON LOL DAT AINT DA REAL SHIT??!? Admittedly I thought it was crap when the American dubbed and edited shit used to come on TV, but now that I've seen the whole thing in its original, non-fucked-with, subtitled entirety... I really think it's great. Incredibly repetitive, sure, but it's still loaded with good bits.

To be fair I didn't actually read the rest of the post though. You probably had some valid points.

I wouldn't say so code geass is the shit it has a ending that i thought was better than death notes. in death notes ending he acts like a little bitch
 
Personally my favorites are Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, Death note is okay, Uh... A few Gundam series are fun to watch, I still wish TriGun is on Adult Swim... And last but definently not least Appleseed =P. I just really wish that I can find the damn movie, if not I may have to result in online streaming.
