Anime Fan Parody Help / Voice Casting / Collaboration Thread (READ FIRST POST!)

I like the sound of that but my frienRAB are getting weary of me doing that.

And yes Hell Cat song parodies are essential. Heck you could probably do away with all the other dialogue (or at least most of it) and make it pretty much nothing but song parodies.

I'm with Sketch on this one; I dislike reusing main character voices if I can help it, and I can only really do two young-ish teen type voices: spunky shonen (Van Fanel) and whiny angst (Kei Kurono). I'm afraid that anything I tried to do for an adult Siraba would be caught somewhere floating between the two of those.

Voicing Scar would be an absolute treat, though. He's one of my favorite Disney villains, and certainly my favorite character from Lion King.

There are definitely advantages to the main writer doing the editing, but if you've never done any serious editing before, Lion King might not be the best place to start. Generally speaking, the more visually elaborate and high-quality the animation is, the harder it is to work with, and it doesn't get much more elaborate and high-quality than a big theatrical Disney picture from the 90's. For someone with even a little experience under their belt, that might make for a fun challenge, but for someone who's still struggling to learn the basics, I could see it becoming frustrating.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely suggest learning to edit to anyone who's interested in getting in on the abridging thing. It's an immensely fun and rewarding hobby. But you may be better served by starting with a slightly less arabitious project to get your bearings and coming back to Lion King later-- it'll almost certainly still be there when you feel up to it.

Or if you're able to find a willing editor to do it for you, you could jump straight into it now, but don't look at me. (-: I have enough on my plate this spring with my own projects, and starting this summer I'll be taking grad classes and hence have less free time than ever.

Someone (You know who you are) pointed out the major brain fart I made (I refer to it as the biggest brain fart in human history), so I rebooted auditions for my Hunter x Hunter abridged.

I've only listed characters that have a truly important role up to episode 34-ish. I'll be adding more as I go along. I'd make a promotional (not) video, but I feel extremely stupid and incapable (again, person who knows who he is).

I'm RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
[line break]EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAA

sorry about the double post, but I need help again. What if you write a script and and you feel it's not up to par with your previous work? How do you go about rewriting? I have little to no understanding about people and how they interact, and I have a bit of trouble in the references department at times. Also, a few of my jokes could be seen as joke steals. One is a spin on one of Mynd Hed's jokes, one is a slight spin on an old NTAS joke, and lastly a joke that looks a lot like another of Mynd Hed's jokes (think on in a million fluke). It could just be the quality of the original episode shining dimly, but idk.

Moderator Edit: Added line breaks to prevent post from screwing up the forum formatting. (-:

I was hoping I could pull a collab with Kaiser for the Lupin III vs Detective Conan. Once they get around to subbing it, I'll check it out see if I could come up with something funny script wise. I just hope Kaiser might be interested, if not then its fine. I would straight out ask him but I'm ascared

Nah, Kaiser doesn't bite unless REALLY provoked.. Just hail him and give out a polite, straight, proposition. Worked for me many a time. ^_^

I just lost my bladder.

If we can maybe schedule some time to chat via your IM of choice, we can see how this is going to progress (my schedule is that of a graduating senior so it is a little hectic at the time).

That's cool. I'm pretty darn busy myself.

I don't think something like Lion King Abridged is something that'd ever happen overnight, though.

I would think so.

Abridging a movie should take a lot longer than than an episode, even if said person doing it is a comedic genius. Genius can't overcome laws of time and space.

...I hope.

I can't really commit to editing (like I mentioned before, free time is going to become a luxury that I have don't have very soon), but I'm still definitely up for contributing a voice or two, and I can help out with the scripting as long as we can do it over e-mail or IM as opposed to voice chat (which I don't often have the time for these days).

Edit: Should amend that to say "I can help out with the scripting as long as MY CONTRIBUTIONS can be over e-mail or IM as opposed to voice chat." Don't want to rule anything out for everyone else involved if that's how they're more comfortable working. (-:

The offered helping is highly appreciated. I might have a little time sometime this weekend where I can make possible IM contact with you two to discuss the level of involvement we are all content with. Above all I want anyone involved to feel their neeRAB are met above my own as the spearhead. I'd be ghastly dissapointed if I made anyone uncomfortable and as such I simply won't stand for my own mistakes causing discomfort for such nice parties.

I haven't done a series of my own, but I may take an interest in auditioning for a role. I have a mic and I'm an aspiring voice actor myself, so hey, consider it an option.
