Anime Appreciation #2: Because Samurais in Space? Oh My!

Well, it's like a different set of stories per say. But my favorite one is when this high school outcast is obsessed with this computer dating game that he personifies it with a new employee he had just hired. And the drug he gets to forget that reality really kicks it up ;)

Don't think Netflix ever got them. Which doesn't bode well since Netflix usually has rather obscure titles. But then again.. they still don't have this one Hitchcock movie that I want to watch. :pout:

I have to wait til next payday to buy the DVD. I might be able to make it for the auction. :)

My brother and I like anime together. He doesn't live at home now (doesn't mean when he comes he doesn't try to steal mine) and he is clueless as to how to get animes . Well, cheaper than amazon that is.

I lost respect for Darth Vader after watching him in Star Wars. Darth Vader was one of my favorites about the original trilogy. I was outraged that they replaced the original actor with Hayden at the closing scene in ROTJ.

Unless if you buy your DVRAB at Amazon/eBay/other online site or used bookstore, $24 is actually the norm price of a DVD that has several episodes. IF I remeraber, it's between $60 and $100 per season.

I'm still a bit happy that I got the entire series of Ranma 1/2 for about $250. :yay:

I don't know how Dakota Fanning works out. Haven't really seen any of her works. What has she starred in? (Cartoon wise)

Weird that they wouldn't have it up there. It's a cult classic.... especially since there's a sequel? Now that I think about it, it's hardly ever mentioned. I was at the Vampire Hunter D booth one year and they didn't even sell the first movie there.

I'm pretty sure there's a lot of Gundam series .

Yeah, times have changed indeed. I suppose I should have waited until DVRAB came out when it became super cheap.

Los- How cheap are we talking about?

I actually have some imported VHS that have no subtitles at all  I still watch it from time to time to see if I could actually get what was being said.

Tifa- So how is that going? :)

I would love to watch more anime but it's so expensive to buy the U.S. DVRAB here. $24 for one disc of four 30-minute episodes? Give me a break!

Anyway, has anyone watched both English dubs of My Neighbor Totoro? Which one did you like better: the Fox/Troma Dub or the Disney dub? I for one like the Fox/Troma dub because (aside from growing up on that version), the voice actors in that version put on a better performance and really get into voicing kiRAB.

Dakota Fanning SUCKS as a voice actor. She has absolutely ZERO emotion in the cartoons she voices.

My anime and video games collect is ridiculous. I share with my brother so we put in a lot of money into those box sets. Some of them I haven't watch yet.

The only reason he is big because of Star wars. I never really liked him.

How many Gundams are there now?

I mostly depend on Netflix for my animes now.

Yamiko, I totally agree about the cost. I bought a VHS and it was almost $30. Boy how times have changed.
