Anime Appreciation #2: Because Samurais in Space? Oh My!

Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks! Anime Rocks!
And, oh yeah, Anime Rocks!

Death Note is awesome. I got my brother into that series. He watches it; I read it. But I kinda stop reading it cause the guys I was borrowing from just enlisted. :look:

My brother got me into animes too. I used to just like Disney but animes were a lot more complex and interesting. Definitely not all fairy tales.

But it's hard to get people out of the minRABet of just kiddie cartoons. Animes are not usually kiddie cartoons!

Oh, if you're talking about in general, yeah, there are some clips of both versions. But if you're talking about in terms of the Japanese dialogue, none.

That's odd. Or maybe it's because Vampire Hunter D was made in the 80's?

Question is if you want to. And if you do, I suggest watching the episode where the high school boy is addicted to a Type S drug and becomes so obsessed with this RPG game on his computer that he takes his jollies out on a new employee.

By the way, I got the OST (original soundtrack) thread up! :yay:

We kind of need a music thread in here anyway and the closest we have is the Theme Songs thread.

I watched R.O.D (Read or Die) last night. It was actually quite good to be honest. I'm surprised myself because I haven't gotten in to anime for a few years now other than the ones I'm still in to.

Although my brother made one interesting point while I was watching it. He thought Yomiko...or the English voice actor, makes the series sound like hentai when you're not looking at the screen. :goof:

I guess it's because the anime is very casual speech and in school they probably teach you very formal way of speaking. :)

 I use to go to Portugal every summer when I was younger, so I didn't start watching Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z in either English or Japanese. Instead, my first encounters with anime was in Portuguese.
I still know that Dragon Ball Z opening theme song in Portuguese. :lmao:

Yeah...I can give you the English dubbing, which isn't too bad.

My favorite episode:
My Fair Lady pt. 1
My Fair Lady pt. 2
My Fair Lady pt. 3

On a side note, I'm getting slowly interested in Blood +

How much does every usually get their manga for? I went to barnes and noble online and got my Marmalade Boy series for 10$ per book. Then I looked inside the barnes and noble store and they had their books there for 20$. >-< Misleading prices, I guess. lol
