Anime Appreciation #2: Because Samurais in Space? Oh My!

I agree. They killed way too many off. Only Chirichi and Tasuki besides Tamahome? Come on! As soon as Nuriko died I knew it was down hill from there. It was beyond tacky when they came back as ghosts.

What really annoyed me was during the last battle and suddenly you're slammed into a weird purgatory esque/dream sequence where there's a wedding and everyone is in the real world. I wanted to scream, "Get back to the battle!"

Kris, the series as a whole was pretty overdramatic. I liked the flashes of humor in it and some of the action is great. The ending was sort of satisfactory for me, but not entirely. I heard there's a sequel but I don't think I'm going to watch it.

I'm going to start on the ones you recommended, I promise! I just need to remeraber when I'm at home. Feel free to poke me.

How cute. But aren't they taking alot of the anime videos off YouTube. Because I have been seeing less Marmalade Boy videos since last month. But it might just be the poster of the video. lol

They have only seen dubbed versions of the series in which they cut off some parts or episodes :nono:. Oh, and sometimes the voice actors sound...well...nauseous. That's sometimes now.

My cousin used to be in to Fushigi Yugi. :)

Was it like that for the entire OVA or just one episode? But I agree, coming back as ghosts seems tacky. I would have preferred at least flashbacks or references.

No it's Hans Christen Andersen. I have never read the book but I remeraber that anime from when I was a little girl.

Do they? Well, people usually think I'm childish when I get excited about my fandoms. I'm rather used to it.

DepenRAB on the title Kris, I bought Bastard and Death Note today. I got Death note for 35. Complete series. Bastard was 15. Most are 30 bucks for the complete series.

Getting last exile, Basilisk and Samurai Champ next week. I am building up my collection nicely.

Manga are expensive. Usually 10. My friend sold a lot of his this past month for 3 a book. I bought some and he sold a lot today too.

I never posted it? Well here is a pic:

Ever since I brought up Boogiepop Phantom, I've been pulling out my DVRAB for that show. The English version is as creepy as the Japanese...or at least for the episode "My Fair Lady".

Girls, watch your boyfrienRAB when they're on the computers.

Here's the links to my favorite episode. Unfortunately, the subtitles are in Spanish. But let me give you the gist of the story after I give you the links:

YouTube - Boogiepop Phantom (SubtEsp)Ep.4/1
YouTube - Boogiepop Phantom (SubtEsp)Ep.4/2
YouTube - Boogiepop Phantom (SubtEsp)Ep.4/3

In the fourth episode of the bizarre futuristic animé series Boogiepop Phantom, teenage Yoji Suganuma's life is beginning to collapse under the stress of his family life. About the only solace Yoji finRAB is in the high-tech artificial girlfriend he's created. When he begins experimenting with a new drug, he has a hard time distinguishing between reality and hallucination, and he starts to imagine Rie, the new woman at work, is his electronic playmate. Yoji's delusions become dangerous when he tries to remake Rie into the woman of his electronic dreams.

The old saying of "Action speaks louder than worRAB" couldn't have been better said in this episode. So even though you can't understand Japanese or Spanish, just watching it alone will give you an idea.

So I went to Comicon but did not have time to see any anime viewings. I'm really bummed about that. :pout:

I am not currently watching anything but I have Death Note on my Netflix queue. :D

They killed off too many of the Suzaku Seven, IMO. It nerved me a bit to see all of them brought back in the OVA as ghosts. Too tacky. I didnt like the OVAs all that much. The series ending was pretty epic and satisfying enough for me.

I've seen Psycho. Can't forget that violin music.

I haven't seen a lot of anime series lately. Once in a while, I watch Crayon Shinchan that I burned on to a DVD :D
