I hope this fails. Looks like they're trying too hard to be wacky and really milk a Family Guy franchise. On the British family- I liked 'One If By Clam, Two If By Sea' and the Silly Nannies had some good jokes but I doubt they'll do anything with this family beyond the same old stereotypes. To their credit they admit it's outdated, so I guess it's "We wanted a stereotype Brit family. Deal with it'.

Move American Dad and King of the Hill out of the way and put the rest to death by firing squad.

As for Family Guy... hm... Break its legs.

Good gracious, Cleveland Jr. put on some poundage.

Seems like Seth's digging Virginia a little. American Dad's in the fictional northern Virginia city of Langley. Now, The Cleveland Show looks like it's taking place in the fictional southern Virginia city of Stoolbend (wonder how the rest of the 757 will react to that). It's a plausable plot, I guess. A lot better thought out than I imagined. It could work. I'm actually looking forward to it now that I know what it's all about.

Now let's see how Cleveland does as a more 3-dimensional character. I think they can probably pull it off as he's always been a little more the straight man, and his reactions to his neighbors and new family will probably be pretty funny.

Well, I'll never say I'm optimistic about The Cleveland Show, but I guess it's a little reassuring just to hear a definite plan for it. I'll be tuning in for the first few episodes regardless of how I feel beforehand.

Other guest-stars include me yawning and Fox endlessly overhyping the fact that it's the 20th season.

This episode isn't close to airing and yet I can probably accurately predict 75% of the jokes in it. Seriously, guys, we GET that you hate Republicans. Move on. It's just laziness at this point.
(I know I should technically reserve judgment, but come on, is there any chance that an FG episode with that plot won't be another Right-bashing frenzy? If it were an AD episode it would make sense and be true to the characters, but as an FG episode, there's no other reason for them to have a plot like that.)

FINALLY Luanne has a baby in the next KOTH season. About time. Wonder if it'll be the season premiere or finale, though?

Not digging the character designs for "Sit Down, Shut Up", but hopefully the writing can overcome it. With O&W at the helm, I have high hopes in this one.

Not very interested in the Cleveland show, but I'll tune in to the first episode, at least.

The Simpsons: Re: Julia Louis-Dreyfus: She already voiced someone on the show. Wonder if it'll be a new character or the one she already played... or if she plays herself. I'm kinda interested in Denis Leary, as he's a fave of mine, but I only hope he's actually given good dialog, unlike Stephen Colbert, who was pretty much wasted in his appearance.

Family Guy... meh. I'm about this close to not watching anymore. Despite some decent jokes here and there, it just doesn't get me excited like it used to, and it's failed me more times than I like to admit. Though I'll definitely be tuning in for the second Star Wars parody, and "Road to" episodes (which I'm assuming the WWII plot is) are usually good.

You mean a show about a father and his family? Well, in that case lets call Norman Lear a hack for giving us a bunch of family sitcoms that revolved around politics and social issues.

Whatever.

If Seth wants to stick to shows about a father and his family then let him. As long as its funny I don't care.

I was just about to say that.Thank god she finds out this season that she's not cool any more. She should have found out that along time ago. Also can't wait to se Luana and Lucky take care of a baby that should be a hoot.

Ask for the new Family Guy spin off, I'll give it a shot. Who knows maybe it will be better than the orginal series now.

Actually, let me point out why there's talk of this being the same exact show as Family Guy:

Cleveland = Peter
Donna = Lois
Cleveland Jr. = Chris
Stepdaughter = The girl that Meg wishes she could be
Stepson = Straight Stewie

Lets just hope that this pulls an American Dad and makes these comparisons non-existent.

I know you're not being totally serious about these comparisons, but let's argue about it anyway just to get it out of the way:

Aside from being a dad, he's different in a whole lot of ways, as we've already seen.

She does look a bit like her, and it's hard to imagine her character deviating a whole lot from "average suburban housewife". But... well, at least she's black? Maybe that'll make a difference. *shrug*

With his sudden weight gain, I guess that's possible, but we'll see...

Well, then they're not all that similar, are they?

Eh, he's a baby. I doubt he'll be super-intelligent and evil like Stewie was.
EDIT: Correction, he's 5 years old. That's actually an age bracket that hasn't been used all that much on this kind of show.

That's probably the main point of your post, and I agree.

It beats me why Seth MacFarlane keeps making these shows about families. Why doesn't he just go ahead and make an animated sketch comedy show in the vein of Seth Green's Robot Chicken. It would basically be a half hour of nothing but Family Guy style cutaways.

In any case, it should at least be interesting to see what Seth and company will do with African-American protagonists. I want to see what sort of character the wife will be; Seth already has a trophy wife (Francine Smith) and a formerly nice but now skanky and slutty wife (Lois Griffin), Donna kind of looks like a black Lois, but it's much too soon to call her a ripoff.

Is that fat kid supposed to be Cleveland Jr.? He looks like a completely different character with the same name! I guess that he won't be as hyper this time around. Also, it's a safe bet that the daughter will not be a clone of Meg, and I say that's a good thing. The 'unpopular girl whom everybody else mercilessly dumps on' shtick got old really fast.

I'll at least watch the premiere of The Cleveland Show before I make any kind of judgment on it.
