Animation-Day!

In respect of animation and cartoons I figures I would bring up the fact that we are coming up on the anniverssary of "Fantasamagore" which is reguarded as the first ever cartoon done in traditional sense. That was done in mid-august of 1908 by a French director named Emile Cohl. I figured in honor of animation we could hold a day where we wish everyone a Happy Animation-Day and do something special in the name of animation. I'm not suggesting we watch cartoons all day or spend big bucks on DVDs but instead we could wish everyone a very happy "animation-day" and spark conversation with friends and family about their favorite cartoons and maybe do something special on these boards in celebration. What would everyone think of this?

Funny...someone suggested something like this last year. Responses were mixed.

My answer is the same as before: I personally don't need to set aside one specific day to celebrate animation since I do it all the time. I watch more animated shows than I do live-action ones, I draw and write cartoons of my own and I pop in a cartoon DVD whenever there's nothing on the idiot box. So just about every day is Animation Day for me.

People celbrate religion everyday of the week but they still have Christmas and other religious holidays to look toward to everyday, this is no different. It was just a thought, one day a year to make ultra special in Retrospect of the first ever cartoon or piece of animation.
