Animated Mascots of Yesteryear

What happened to characters like O.G. Readmore, who taught kids to read, and Computer Scooter and Mr. Chips, who introduced kids to computers?

What happened to other mascots like these?

Both of those were dropped by ABC by the time Disney bought the network, except for Scooter Computer & Mr. Chips, which didn't last very long at all, and was gone long before that.

Generally, fillers like that are just products of a bygone era, pretty much like Saturday morning TV in general.

When Disney's One Saturday Morning was launched in 1997, Schoolhouse Rock was reduced to only a single airing near the end of the block, as opposed to airing once every half hour or every hour, as it did originally. After One Saturday Morning's 1st season, Schoolhouse Rock disappeared from ABC entirely. However, a DVD of Schoolhouse Rock is available.

Wasn't O.G. Readmore dropped a while before the Disney buyout as well? I recall him being dropped at the beginning of the 90's, and the Saturday Morning Special getting just a generic opening in the aftermath.

No. But the ABC Saturday Morning Block was filled with mostly Disney shows like Mighty Ducks, Brand Spanking New Doug (until Disney's Doug), Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles, Jungle Cubs, and Mighty Ducks.

From just looking it up with Google, the show ran from 1974 to 1976. So it basically ended. I've never even heard of Letter People. Not all animated shows are famous enough to be well-known years after they ended.

I saw the same information on wikipedia, but I'm kind of skeptic with that site. Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information. So unless you have something from a different source saying the same thing, I'm going to take this with a grant of salt.

What happened to Dig 'Em, the Golden Honey Crisp Bear, the Monsters from the Monster Cereals, and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Chefs, and the Cookie Crook?

I think Dig 'Em and Honey Crisp Bear are still used. The Cookie Crook was replaced with Chip the Wolf, and one of the Cinnamon Toast Chefs can still be seen on the box. The Monsters are long gone.

P.S. Don't double post.

Dig 'Em still appears on the boxes, but he hasn't been seen on TV in over 5 years. Same deal with the "Honey Crisp Bear", whose name is Sugar Bear and the name of the cereal is Super Sugar/Golden Crisp, btw.

Franken Berry, Count Chocula and Boo Berry are all still around. They mostly only turn up on TV ads in October for Halloween.

The Cinnamon Toast Crunch chefs have all been retired, except for the white haired chef, Wendell, who still appears on the boxes but hasn't been on TV for some time. Similarly, Cookie Crook was just retired from use.
