Animated Holiday Specials and Movies (based on Hollywood 'Toons)

They had Disney and Looney Tunes holiday specials and movies.

How come you never saw Woody Woodpecker, Popeye, Tom and Jerry, Pink Panther holiday specials or movies, or holiday specials/movies produced by other Hollywood studios?

Tom & Jerry had The Night Before Christmas (1941), and Popeye had Seasons Greetinks (1933) and Mister and Mistletoe (1954). I am unsure about the others. I hope this helps!

As much as I enjoy Disney and Looney Tunes Holiday TV specials, what I remember (and perhaps even enjoyed the most) were the Hanna-Barbera ones. Every Christmas I look forward to watching stuff like Yogi's First Christmas.

To each his own. One of the reasons I don't regret downgrading my cable is that I don't have to pay for Boomerang anymore. Gahh! Hanna Barbera made some awful-looking crud. My dad says that when he was a kid, H-B owned Saturday mornings and there were very few alternatives. Thank god we've got more choices now, like Nick, Cartoon Network and the Disney Channel. I can't imagine having only Fred and Wilma and that annoying Yogi to watch. They'd make me swear off TV toons for good.

Yeah, Flinstones is pretty good, but that being the only alternative would get old real fast. And while I'm glad we have more choices now, it's a sad fact that so few of them are interesting or good. :(

Yea, H-B dominated original content but kids still had the old theatrical shorts from WB/Disney/MGM/Fletcher as well as live-action stuff like The Three Stooges which was HUGE with kids. Hence why they got a cartoon series and big screen live-action movies.
