I believe what makes a character likeable is reacting to different characters in an entertaining way *serious, comedic, emotional, and witty?..* I myself love to watch shows with ensemble casts. Characters with different personality traits that complement and contradict each other allows for witty banter, conflict, and emotional bonding. After all if you lock a single character in a room by themselves for every episode it would become bothersome and boring. Personalities shine out best when with others.
However making a personality of a character likable, often depend on the writers, animators and voice actors. Also many different people will naturally like different personalities. *another reason to have ensemble casts* I personally tend to like the ?odd balls? of the group. The ones with witty one liners who tend to go against social norms. They range from silly to bitingly sarcastic.
