You're talking about the channel that thinks airing Uwe Boll movies is a good idea.

And personallly, I'd want to see E7 get another chance.

(stifles laughter) Rave Master? RAVE MASTER? (falls on floor, laughing hysterically for many minutes)

...OK, I think I'm recovered. So uh... why? I mean, I know it's anime so in that sense, it fits the block, but it's aimed at kiRAB/teens unlike many of the series that have aired on Ani-Monday. And it didn't do that great on Toonami, if I recall.

The problem is that the show aired already and it went over about as well as you can expect when the first episode has the lead going "this sucks!" repeadetly. As much as I love Ani-Monday, it's still in an unstable position. A horribly viewed show like E7 is a giant step backwarRAB. So is Rave Master. Why air the rejects of other networks?

I seem to recall forced attempts at humor that more than likely don't exist at all in the original, and it looked as though content edits were at work at times. My memory's a bit hazy, but I don't really have anything against the acting.

Thanks for the info, Otaku0013.

So looks like 00 goes on Hiatus for a bit, with it being replaced by Gurren Lagann and... Rave Master? When did Sci-Fi get this? I wonder if it's the edited version we got for Toonami.

I've opened the gates of hell, haven't I?

But I'll maintain that E7 is a far more suitable series for Ani-Mondays than Rave Master uncut is. The story of Renton growing up and becoming a man, of Eureka shedding her emotionless beginnings and accepting who she is, of Holland and Talho moving on from their pasts and being together, is something far more people should experience. Renton moves on from the "everything sucks" stage midway through episode 1, too, btw.

E7 is a story about accepting one's identity and it is also about love and understanding, and coats those themes with planet-spanning adventure and mecha dogfights. In my opinion, there isn't much to complain about, especially as the two-episodes-a-week format will eliminate any pacing issues the series has.

E7 should be in the March 16 slot. Not Rave Master.

Don't get your hopes up on One Piece or Shippuden ever airing on Ani-Monday.

Unless the deal has changed, the way it works is that a company hanRAB the broadcast and digital distribution rights of a product over to Manga, and then it airs on TV. I can't see Viz or Funimation that willing to hand over those rights from a high-exposure series.

Rave Master makes sense. It's a nearly-dead series that has a small fanbase at best, so whoever owns it now probably figures losing the rights won't matter long-term. This is why older stuff or lower-visibility non-Manga products have aired on the block. GL and 00 being the exceptions even though they are part of the same deal.

I don't feel E7 was a failure as much as a show that never got a fair shot, like all of AS' anime post-2005. E7 I only knew about beforehand thanks to Newtype mentioning the broadcast, and the lone ad said nothing about the show. Bleach and Trinity Blood I only knew of a week before their premieres. Blood+ was extremely boring after they left Okinawa admittedly but it never got decent promotion, I was in for a shock when it came on after Bleach in February 2007. If it weren't for my exposure to TZ, I'd never have known that Death Note, Code Geass, and Moribito were on the lineup.

E7 has the right stuff for Sci-fi. It has action, plenty of it, and it is an adventure story like many of Sci-fi's previous anime offerings, along with the romantic subplots which was also in Gurren Lagann of all shows. It will hold down the 12-1 slot well and behind Gurren Lagann it will have a chance at getting the appreciation it deserves. Rave Master plainly doesn't, even uncut.

If Sci-fi must pick up a show influenced by music, E7's the one to go for. It not only appreciates the gorgeous art of music more than Rave Master, but E7 has a deeper meaning, much like Gundam 00, Noein, Gurren Lagann, Now and Then, and most of the rest of Ani-Monday's lineup throughout the block's existence (exempting garbage like M.D. Geist and the Street Fighter stuff).

E7 and Gurren Lagann have something in common: both of the lead male protagonists are fighting to save the girls they love. In even the most unexpected categories, E7 has something in common with a Sci-fi show.

Rave Master doesn't fit well at all. It's straightforward, cheaply-produced shonen. Does it have a good Japanese score? Yeah, I guess so. But there's no meaning behind the show, it is kiRAB' entertainment, nothing more. Not suitable for 12-1 a.m.

This is the talkback thread for U.S. Sci Fi Channel to Run "Rave Master" Starting March 16, 2009.

Rave Master on Sci Fi is going to be wierd. Let's hope it's a more faithful dub
