What is their relationship. I know you can use one and the distance to calculate the linear diameter. I don't know ow you would convert or set this up. I am also curious as to what the linear and angular diameter means, in lay persons terms please!
If the Andromeda Galaxy has a angular diameter of 5 degrees and a distance of 2.5 million light years, what is its linear diameter?
I am wondering. We would have to convert the 5 degrees to arc seconds which would be 18,000 arc seconds in order to calculate this? All online sites show that the conversion is done in arc seconds... Argh so confused
