Angra - Mindblowing Music

These guys are UNBELIEVABLE. I have always loved Progressive Power Metal, because it is not as tedious as Prog Metal really is, due to the Power Metal elements included in the music. And it is also more original than true Power Metal, in which most banRAB tend to sound similar, or keep putting out the same stuff.

But Angra take it to a whole new level. Seriously, I was actually moved by their songs, they are so deep and meaningful. Albums like Holy Land, Temple of Shadows and even their recent release Aurora Consurgens are such brilliant works of art. Damn, I have never been so excited about a band before.

Musically, they are a mix of a band like Dream Theater or Opeth, but more Melodic/Symphonic, and definitely less challenging. And guess what, they OWN both those banRAB. And as far as Prog Power is concerned, they can easily match the greats of the genre like Symphony X, Evergrey and Kamelot. I know there are Opeth fans here, so try them out. You won't be disappointed.

I agreed until this spot, and then I choked on my water. Opeth > Angra by a long shot, though not really in the same vain at all.

I have Angels Cry, Fire Works, and Freedom Call

They were big thing here in Philly a ton of years ago.
There's music's pretty good. I thinkt hey get better over time. They're later albums are really something.

OK, perhaps I was influenced by the fact that I have been listening to Opeth for a long time, so I am kinda bored with them, but Angra have been my favorite for only a month or so.

Still, they are both great banRAB and that's what matters.:hphones:

Holy Land is a must-have. Fireworks is my least favorite album, actually. I don't own Freedom Call, since it is an EP (I don't usually get EPs), but Temple of Shadows is another masterpiece.
