while you are not actually "put out" for an angio, you are not at all really 'wide awake and totally alert for this either? they most certainly DO use a painkilling med(fent) and along with that, a very strong sedative called versed for the procedure. so you ARE NOT actually really 'fully there' inside your head kinda thing? trust me here, i have not only had i think its now five? angios, but i also had to undergo an aneurysm coiling too. for THAT you ARE put under general for. so i simply had to have alot of both pre coiling and post coiling angiograms done on my brain. but you should NOT have any real issues between this wonderful and calming combo of meds they are actually giving you thru IV? and bumps of the actual fentanyl too(all you have to simply do is 'ask' for a bump of the fent and they WILL do this for you too?
it really is NOT nearly as bad as you may be thinking right now? when we simply do not actually even know what to actually expect from ANY unknown type of procedure, we tend to be MORE concerned about it than it actually deserves the right to have inside our heads. i think that may be what is going on with you right now too? i felt the very same way. just what was the actual reason they simply could not really complete your other scans? they CAN,thru your primary,if you may simply ever feel like you may havbe some level of anxiety with MRI,and many just do. you can ALWAYS ask whoever refers you for the MRI to also possibly Rx something like valium for the actual MRI too that you simply take like when you are still at home so its fully kicked in by the time your scan is needed? i just have to go that route with my MRIs only because i suffer from some pretty nasty levels of spasticity from a spinal cord injury and cannot always remain still? so that valium really helps there. but docs DO tend to pretty much routinely Rx this type of med for people when they are going to be having MRI and they also feel anxious too? it DOES help alot for you to relax in there.
just exactly what is it that your doc/neuro? is trying to identify within your arteries of your brain? were you suffering with some specific types of ongoing symptoms that prompted the other scans and this angio too? just wondering.
i really DO think you will do just fine with the angio. its really amazing at just what that combo of meds they give you simply 'does' for your relaxation levels hon. just 'try' not to overly concern yourself with this angio hon, you WILL be done in no time. if this combo actually helped me with MY level of inability to even stay still from spasms, trust me, it will help you, lol. good luck with this and do please keep me posted as to what maybe gets found out? been down THIS road myself.
