Angels & Demons - Verdict?

Just got back from the cinema, I finished reading the book about ten days ago, so it was still fresh in my mind, there are quite a number of changes. I won't say what they are though as I may spoil it for others. My advice is to finish the book...I much preferred it myself. I guess I'm a little disappointed with the film tbh.

I dont know if I watched the same movie as you lot...I watched it yesterday and thought it was really good.
Ewan McGregor's accent kept me entertained throughout (Scottish?Irish?Italian/American?) and Tom Hanks didnt have a mullet. Bonus.
I was expecting to be able to go in, switch off for a couple of hours and enjoy myself. Thats what I got. LoaRAB better than the Da Vinci Code for me.

Oh yeah. That's another thing.

I thought he was raised in Italy from 2 or something, yet he still had a (dodgy) Irish accent. Weird.

Just got back from seeing it. Quite disappointed with it to be honest. Preferred DVC.

The first hour was utterly boring, and i don't know whether i wasn't paying attention enough or what but i kept wondering why certain characters were doing the things they were doing. It all seemed a little pointless, and the events that spurred the characters on were very coincidental.

The second hour greatly improved and i found myself enjoying it, only to be let down again at the very end.

I saw the Ewan McGregor twist coming a mile off, and i seriously doubt that after being bounced around rooftops like he was that he'd merely walk away with a few scratches and a limp...And wouldn't a bomb that is 4 times as powerful as a nuclear bomb (or whatever it was) still decimate Rome, regardless of the height in which it was detonated?

Overall i'd say its about a 7/10 from me.

Angels & Demons - Verdict?

Just came back from Angels & Demons and I thought it was better than The Da Vinci Code on many levels and I liked TDVC. It's much more fast paced, better directed and although parts are pretty ludicrous to say the least, it's still entertaining. The music by Hans Zimmer is gorgeous and suits the film given its setting. Tom Hanks is good as Langdon although I alway wonder how on earth a Harvard proffesor gets involves in these situations, Ayelet Zurer is great as Vittoria and more interesting that Audrey Tatou was, Ewan McGregor and Stellan Skarsg

... on T4 this Sunday. Exclusive interviews with Ewan MacGregor and Tom Hanks!

And if you want to be the one asking the questions at the next red carpet premier take a look at the T4 website to find out how. xxx

I thought it was just "ok" about 6/10.

I probably liked it about equal to DVC..despite the book being better. These books just dont work well as movies.

I watched this at the weekend and it was better than I thought it was going to be, mind you consider the slating it's got that's not too difficult;)

I found it quite enjoyable, although I worked out the twist as soon as I saw the person involved. I also had to discount a lot of the stupid stuff and just run with how he worked all this stuff out and not try and work out what they were on about, which is hard for me I must admit. But it wasn't bad in a murder mystery kind of way and a fairly decent pace.

I read the book a few years ago and really enjoyed it, although it's no literary classic it's a nice fun holiday book and paints such a good picture of Rome that I talked my girlfreind into going there for our next holiday!

The book is much better than the Da Vinci Code (which I thought was OK), so hopefully the film shows a similar improvement (not that I'm holing out too much hope).

Why do TV shows always do this? This morning was claiming an "Exclusive" interview with Tom Hanks the other day.

In what way is a press junket interview exclusive? because it wasn't a press confrerece? pathetic.

I totally agree with you I much prefered Angels and Demon to DVC however I thought DVC as a film was just awful just remember being very disappointed after all the hype. Will tread abit more cautiously this time although I have hears it is much better than DVC so am quietly optimistic.

i deffo thought this was better than da vinchi code, mostly cos it didnt try to make things overly complicated

but it wasnt brilliant.

enjoyed ewan mcgregor
plus really enjoyed seeing rome

friend i went with has just read the book and said it was rubbish in comparison
