Android with Exchange Activesync vs. BlackBerry?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what features an Android device will have when using Activesync to connect to an Exchange server? I'm considering moving from a BB to the new Droid Incredible that is coming to VZW, but am looking for some help to know what it will do compared to the BB and even a Windows Phone.

Any help or resources you could point me to would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

If your admin enables activesync on your account and you can access your Outlook Web server via the internet, you can get push e-mail and contact sync. Other platforms have calendar sync (Windows Mobile & iPhone) via ActiveSync, but you will need to get a 3rd party app for Android (like Touchdown); hopefully they will integrate this into a future version.

One large difference between Blackberry and ActiveSync is that blackberrys are considered more secure as you can remotely erase, track and lock/unlock them via a corporate BES server. Several of these features are appearing in Windows Mobile, but I don't know if these will ever be integrated with Android.

I actually find ActiveSync sometimes more reliable than our BES system; all Blackberry messages go through RIM's servers, so if they are down, everyone is down. Also issues with BES (which logs into Exchange to check for emails) can halt delivery of Blackberry Emails.

Thanks for the great info Broo, I appreciate it. Any idea if you can sync message flag status with your Droid? The way I am reading it, it appears to me a WinMo feature avail only on Exchange Server 2007 or higher.
