Android Update - Problems?

I got up today and my Droid Eris said it needed to do a system update. I allowed it to and when I went to use my phone later all my contacts were gone...somehow later they reappeared, but now I cannot connect my contacts to Facebook. Is anyone else having this problem?

Also, now everytime I send a message in the notification bar it says that my message was successfully sent...how do I turn this off?
