Android Phones? Please Help!?

I just bought an Android phone and have no idea what that means. What's with the apps? How do I get them? Do they cost to use and does it use the internet. I'm on Virgin and how do I use the internet on that?
I'm so confused.
Can someone tell me everything I need to know, please?
