Android phone rooting and data lose on vibrant?

i have a galaxy s vibrant t959 model phone.
i unlocked it and didn't change any think software wise.
now im planing to root it and up date to Froyo.
my question is what will i lose if i root/update my phone (data, contact,saved games, media files?)
and do i need to unlock it again.
is there any good Froyo updated available ? (if yes could u please give the link?)
