Android OS on any smartphone

Does anybody has any info if it is possible to install the Android OS to a smartphone other than the one that comes with one?

Is it possible to lets say install the Android OS to samsung hd i8910, that has symbian OS? Somehow change the firmware to the one with Android? What obstacles exist that this has not been done yet?
 
Ok...so u heard that someone is doing something regarding this issue?
I turned to xda forum...but if anyone here knows anything...would be great if he/she/it shares the info
 
No I did not hear that someone is doing something about this issue. Actually i had the same question once and searched XDA and found several people doing it. As I said before.. you will have to search around a bit.
