I think the fact that one would want to put Android onto an iPhone at all speaks volumes about the OS.

Unfortunately, Apple's restrictions don't just centre around the restrictions they put on app developers making it a horrible platform for make apps for, but it also extends to their hardware, which is entirely closed off. This is in stark contrast to Android phones. In fact Google actively encourages Rooting on their Nexus One. Compare that to Jailbreaking an iPhone. The bottom line is even if you could somehow get Android on the iPhone, there are no drivers for any of the hardware (screen, memory, storage, sensors, etc), and nobody knows enough about them who would be willing to write such drivers for Android.
