Android 3.0 expectations

What would we like to see in Android 3.0 , I know we are just wrapping our head around 2.2 froyo, but with 3.0 slated from october release, what are you expecting ? .

Someone alread posted it somewhere, I find the list interesting
http://droidoverflow.com/discussion/13/10-features-i-would-like-to-see-in-android-3.0-aka-gingerbread/#Item_1

Complex script rendering. Android is virtually crippled for me if it doesn't support or atleast render my language(malayalam ml_IN) perfectly. I hope it will be supported in the new android release.

more polished ui and refined performance. also i think all apps in the app market should follow a certain ui style. much like the iphone which makes all the apps look less cheap and plain. hell, i'd be happy if 3.0 just had many of the features the other phone manufacturers ui's have. i love how the galaxy s has a pull down menu from the lock screen to show your music options or how rather than answering a call you can just text them automatically. also i want more customization. why are most people stuck with such a plain white notification bar? it's horrible. i'm sure whatever they have in store will be awesome though. i can't wait (even though according to rumors my droid isn't high tech enough to get the update)

besides all what was mentioned above, i would love support for the arabic language...one Froyo arabic letters show, but the text doesnt show correctly(it shows letters next to each other without forming words )

From the list above, I like

2. Cut/Copy/Paste

3. Built todo list in calendar with Google sync.

4. Improved application switcher that handles application switching better than holding down home button.

Would be nice but not all that important.

8. Built notes application with sync to Google docs.

I'd also like to see some UI improvements but not what most people are thinking. I want Android to mostly stay the way it is but, for example, add sharper buttons like what we've been seeing in a lot of the 2.2 apps. In general, change up the way the built in widgets (not home screen widgets) look or perhaps make it easier for developers to change them. This would essentially be the same things. The biggest improvement I'd like to see is a theme engine. HTC put one in the Slide and while I'm not crazy about it, the idea is there. Android should have a way for developers to create themes to change the entire UI of the system. This would create a lot of new apps and allow people to seriously customize their devices.

Most of all, the Market needs a ton of improvements. Without going into too much detail since it's been discussed many times elsewhere, there needs to be better searching/sorting methods, a way to browse AND purchase online, added payment methods and, most importantly, paid apps must be expanded to all countries where Android is available. And for devs, there absolutely MUST be a way for developers to respond to Market comments. Without this ability, comments are all but useless. As a dev, I've seen comments that are simply lies. Not accidental but malicious lies with no way to clarify the situation.

androidappcritic has got a bunch of things spot on.

android itself is there; one thing i'm expected is this ui overhaul. i feel like android could just be more fluid at times, both peformance-wise and theme-wise. iphones, as much as i hate them, can trick you with the specs. an old 3g (my whole family has iphones... it's horrible) has very fluid pinch-to-zoom mt. my hd2, when running android and getting good linpack scores, still chugs at times. while that's not a huge deal to me, it's a testament to how the os is flawed in its fluidity. same goes with copy-paste, as bmcclure said.

-New UI would be great as long as it isnt too much different.
- Themable so sense UI and motoblur would be able to be upgradable with everyone else
- Gtalk becoming more BBM like.
- better copy/paste
- tasks support
-Google reader app/widget. Maybe update the news/weather widget to support RSS.
-more sense/launcher pro like widgets.

Just get rid of the lag in the OS. Also all phones released from 3.0 after should be vanilla android and the different skins(Sense, Touch Wiz) should be optional add ons. We need to get the army on the same page, at least out of the box.

Don't get me wrong love android vanilla UI but I want it to more polished it seems thrown together.that is the biggest reason I like Sense UI. FM player, full system font replacement, market performance, better market searching.
