Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" Update?!?!?

I live in Malaysia (the android 2.3 update has reached here already), and i have a Samsung Galaxy S (which is originally android 2.2 "Froyo"). I have tried everything to update it to Gingerbread, but my Kies (latest version released on the 14th) is just not picking up ANY update and keeps on insisting that my phone's current firmware is the most recent. Any advice on how to get the update?? Thanks for the help!
 
Your wireless carrier has to release it to you before you can get it. Unless you want to root your phone and install it manually.
