analysts: Reids plan saves more than Boners

He made a promise which he broke. He signed an executive order which he ignored. You can spin it all you want, but the fact of the matter is Obama failed to follow through on that promise because he chose not to. There were plenty of alternatives besides just saying, "LOL NEVERMIND!" but he chose to ignore the issue once it was on the political backburner. That's all he cares about, what is politically expedient for him in the moment.

That's the problem with politicians in general and Obama in particular. Promises us the moon, delivers us a half-eaten moon pie covered in AIRAB.

People on the right beat the war drums, and people on the right physically ordered an invasion of countries that drained our treasury

People on the left called for inspections and then quick withdrawals, and marched in the street protesting the invasions

Bro the private sector job growth stalled because of the census we still haven't been able to recover from the government injecting demand via temp jobs....hopefully we will be able to bounce back before the next census lays waste to our economy again

Or we can stop meddling in the markets and let capitalism work. Let's try letting the winners win and the losers lose? Instead we have blown trillions and trillions of dollars to prevent the inevitable. So we are actually worse off.

of course unlike you liberals worshiping Democrats that were for the war before they were against it, I've been against the Iraq War from the beginning so in my opinion there shouldn't even be a "security force" there to bring home.

When the electorate are classified as losers, they change the game

Even if we did this fantasy "deregulate everything and let the free market sort it out"

It would only last at most 4 years, as a new political movement for the bottom half would elect in a body that would change all the laws

The only way a libertarian world works is when you deny everyone except the top 10% the right to vote

funny that you say that futuramafan...

WWI - U.S. President Woodrow Wilson (D)
WWII - U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (D)
Korea - U.S. President Harry Truman (D)
Vietnam - U.S. President(s) John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson (both D)

The four major wars of the 20th century that the united states fought were started by left-wingers.

I thought the point was Reid's spending cuts vs. Boehner's.

In any case, it's pretty certain that today's D party hardly has the sort of hawks of the pre-Vietnam era. Amazingly enough, today's liberals do NOT necessarily agree with prior actions associated with the Democratic party.

many people stopped supporting the new deal when the saw it did jack shit to create employment... but hey FDR and his gang of Fascist sympathizers were teh bestest things evar!

He made efforts to close it and ran into opposition.

Could he have pushed harder? I think so, but I don't think all that many of his supporters really care much -- I know I do not. This was never one of the bigger campaign goals I cared if he delivered on. (And make no mistake that he has delivered on huge liberal goals.)

Anyways, so long as the torture has ended, I don't give Guantanamo much further thought. If it ever came up that torture were still secretly going on, then I'd have a pretty serious problem with Obama's handling of the base.
