An iPad 2 or iPhone 4?

My friend is allowed to either get an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4 and needs help to choose. She already has a purple Sony Ericson phone and an old nano ipod (that she hardly uses). Yet, her dad has the first generation of iPad and she's allowed to use it if she wants. Can anyone give their opinions and include why?
P.S. Please don't say she should better wait for iPad 3 or iPhone 5! Thanks!
 
iPad 2!!! Considering she already has a phone and something to listen to music, she should get the iPad 2! iPad 2s can do anything an iPhone 4 can do except call, yet if she gets 3G and downloads a video chat or calling app, she can always call someone.
