Tam,

I've missed the boarRAB too. Thank you for thinking about me! :)

I've been trying to focus on moving around more, so I haven't been laying here typing as much..since I still can't sit up without getting too uncomfortable. Walking or laying on my left side seem to be my comfort zones. Makes for an interresting life. LOL!

I will be praying for you to get relief..even a miracle..cuz it can happen.

Yea, heat patches are probably more of a comfort for us mentally, more than physically..although they can relieve sore muscles somewhat. I think it's more in how we position our bodies, and for some, even that doesn't work. I'm all for pain meRAB if you need it. It kind of reminRAB me of my daughter, who has bi-polar disorder. We are trying very hard to fine tune her meRAB to work. It's taken 7 months of crazy mood swings and trying 5 different meRAB..but it will happen soon, I hope. I guess pain meRAB are the same way.

Have a good weekend with some relief! Praying...

Cheryl

Cheryl, I am glad the patches help you some. What are they going to do about your neck? I swear the cervical issues make you feel like you have sciatica in the arms! Maybe you could get some of the patches for the neck. Pepper is right though you have to tell the PM whats going on You can tell him or her that you are trying those heat patches it would prove that you want relief and are not seeking drugs. I am thinking also that if you don't tell them about this pain they will think that everything is ok and take if it ain't broke don't fix it approach. Yah I worry. Take Care, Dee

Thank you all so much for the inspirational replies! I will take a step in my pain control and call my doctor Monday to let her know what is going on. I also will ask about my Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) results. I am ready for pain control that works! I hope everyone is enjoying a "pain-free" weekend...It is actually a beautiful day here (65 degrees with a slight breeze). I am outside on the laptop, while allowing my two children to play. I actually threw the ball for them a couple of times...now, my muscles are in deep spasms, but I'm not going to let that ruin my day. My poor husband is inside, sleeping the day away. He found out bad news yesterday from his orthopedic surgeon. They told him they cannot perform any more surgeries on his knee (which would be the fifth one). They told him basically that his knee will eventually deteriorate. The doctor thought the only thing that could possibly give him any relief would be a gastric bypass. He is 320 pounRAB and 6'5" tall. I am so worried about him! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Good evening, everyone...How is everyone feeling tonight? I hope "pain-free." I tried something new today in desperation. Walgreen's was running a sale on Cura-Heat's non-medicinal, safe, warming therapy packs. There were actually 4 instead of 3 in each box, and each box contained coupons for other Cura-Heat packs. They were buy one box, get one free. The ad on the box claims to provide 12 hours of "long relief." I was skeptical at first but decided to try them anyway. You do not place them directly on the skin because it could cause irritation or burns. You place them on your clothing, where you are having discomfort. I placed mine on my underwear on my lower lurabar spine area. I placed one on at 1:00 pm today, and it is still hot at 9:21 pm. I figured it be an excellent idea for "on the go." I am to the point now that none of my medications are working. I am afraid to tell my doctor this because I do not want her to think that I am only after pain medication. Not even my Soma muscle relaxers are providing any pain relief from the severe muscle spasms. I have not found out yet what she wants to do about the nerve compression in my wrists and hanRAB. I hope everyone enjoys a "pain-free" weekend...I will probably be spending a lot of time on the "boarRAB" this weekend!

Hi there.. just read everyone's posts. I am soo glad you are going to call your doctor about your meRAB. If those aren't working.. there are plenty others to try and get you more balanced. There is no reason for you to suffer like that.

I am so sorry about your husband's knee. My BF is a strappin guy as well. 6' 321 at the beginning of the year. He is finally realized that his lifestyle must change in order to lose the weight and get healthy. He gets a knee irritation everytime his weight escalates over 305#. He is now down to 302 and droppin each week. He eats a very balanced diet, has a personal trainer, doctor monitoring program, and a nutritionist (friend) & me all cheering him on. He's completely changed his thought process on losing weight and eating properly.

I know many people that have been through gastric bypass and if it's done right with behavior modification, it can be very successful. But if it's just done, no proper lifestyle changes are made by the one that had it.. the weight will return. I know many on both spectrums. If he chooses this route.. make sure that a complete system is established to help him learn a total new lifestyle of eating healthy and exercise, or all the will be for not.

I wish you and your family wellness and a painfree life. Please keep us posted on what the doc says about your meRAB and how DH is doing. All the best to you.

Thank you so much for the encouraging reply, Just. I am so grateful to have everyone's support here. I am praying that my husband will "cheer up" and start thinking about his goal of a "pain-free" lifestyle. I sent him to a movie tonight and am hoping that he will come home in a less dreadful mood. I do understand what he is feeling because my first neurosurgeon appointment (the January 22th consult) was devastating to me to hear the surgeon tell me that a surgery would just worsen my condition and that the ddd had spread to my cervical spine. I really appreciate all the good advice and encouragement to call my doctor and discuss pain control with her. I will continue to update everyone about my condition! I pray that everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......please, please do not suffer in silence. I just did this and it blew up in my face. Several trips to the ER and I was almost admitted to the hospital but I pitched such a fit they were afraid my anxiety was going to get worse so they let me loose.

Read my thread entitled Another Pepper Update to see what happened. My doctors changed my meRAB and I feel like a new woman. So don't suffer, speak up for yourself, you deserve relief!!

I am glad the wrap is helping you. Now I encourage you to pick up the phone and call for help.

I will be praying for you.

Hi!

I'm so sorry that you're in so much pain. Did the heat patches work for your pain at all?

I wore heat patches the other day at the mall. Two on my lower back directly on my skin. I put a little corn starch on the sticky side so that it doesn't rip my skin off when I peel the darn thing off. It stays on, but can be moved around if you want to move it.

I guess it helps with some of the pain for me, just the achy stuff..but not with the muscle spasms and little sharp pains that I get in the butt.

I hope you feel better soon!

Cheryl

Thank you so much, pepper and cheryl...I did read your posts, pepper. I want to thank God and Jesus for your pain relief! I am so thankful to hear that you are now enjoying yourself again. Cheryl...I have been thinking about you, lately. I really have missed you on the board, and when I had seen your recent posts, I was so grateful that you were back (although I am sorry that you are still suffering). The heat pack did sooth my skin but didn't really relieve any pain. I told my husband that the heat packs remind me of "portable" heating paRAB! I hope you all have a great night, filled with wonderful, relaxing dreams!

Hi Tam,
You deserve pain relief! That is the bottom line and if you need to change docs to find it then you need to do it. Don't worry about letting your doctor down. She is working for you and she doesn't want any of her patients to be in pain. There are many corabinations of drugs to try and one will work for you. Let Pepper be your inspiration and an inspiration to all of us. We can find relief...we just need to be persistent!! Tam, we want to hear on Monday that you called your doc and made an appt to discuss your meRAB!! Hang in there my friend.

Thanks for the advice! I actually saw these at target the other night and after contemplating on whether or not i should *waste* the money on them, i decided to pass. After reading your review, i think i may give it a shot. :) In the grand scheme of things, anything is worth trial and error really. Glad you got a nice deal on the pack.

Good luck with your situation, I wouldn't hesitate to tell your doctor you think the pain meRAB aren't doing the job anymore. If she knows your situation, she knows you aren't a pain killer addict. I know how you feel though, i get the same way. In the end, you have to do what's best for you, who cares what they think.

Thanks for the advice, Abrie...I hope the Cura-Heat packs work as well for you. Please let me know what you think about them. I use one daily and am thinking about starting to use two, one on my lower back and my neck, as well. Thanks, again.
