Ok to start off, if you are not going to answer this in somewhat of a mature and educated fashion, please leave. I am not trying to stir the pot here, this is a legitimate question.

Does anybody else believe that a world without religion would eventually become a more united world? Without the war and separation that comes with religion, do you believe we could be more united as a people?

I am not saying, "Hey we should all be Christians or all be Buddhists!". I'm wondering if we could disprove the existence of a higher power for example, and unify the entire world with the belief that there is no higher power or god.

Just looking for some educated opinions here. Try not to get angry at one another.

Also, of course, I am an Atheist. However I don't like the term Atheist for some reason.
I want to add here that I am not asking if it would eliminate all of the worlds problems. However, what I am wondering is if it would help us take a big step forward?

Also to whomever it was that asked which wars have recently been fought over religion. Please, read a paper. I don't mean to sound rude, however; it is astonishing that you cannot think of any sort of military conflicts or wars that have sprung up in lets say the last decade because of religion.
Time to add more details.

cheruvima:

You need to look at the question more carefully first off, then after you have done that, proceed to take an open minded stance on the question.

After all that is said and done, go back and read your answer again. You state within it that Atheists kill people because of their religious beliefs. So, would them not having those beliefs mean they would not have been killed? Essentailly, yes. Practically? Mabye not.
Also, if possible. Please elaborate for me why the world would cease to exist or function and would in turn end because nonbody believe in God?

I do not believe in god, as do many, many others. Yet, I continue to move on and live my life, as would the rest of the world if they did not believe, or would you end your life because you no longer had a God to believe in?
