I've heard alot about a asteroid that will hit earth 2012? Is this true? I know I see on the news a few years back about an asteroid that actually berly missed earth.

if an asteroid were to hit earth in 2012, it would be three light years away. And considering that our astronomers can see a hell of a lot father than that(Andromeda galaxy anyone?) If there was an asteroid that was on a trajectory to hit earth, we might have proof of it by now.
2012 is when the Mayan Calendar ends, much speculation and superstition is that it means the end of the world. It has been previously shown that global destruction of life has been caused by asteroids hitting the earth so this is what people are ranting about.
And the magnetic pools flipping will not bring about the end of the world either and they are already about a million years over their supposed time to flip so it could happen today rather than 2012

There is no asteroid in 2012. The problem is the sun. The sun goes through cycles every 11 years, which is 2012. There will be many solar storms and flares. Scientists have miscalculated the severity of this cycle.This will effect the worlds power grids, but shouldn't kill us.
