An American Tail.

I wasn't born until 1988 so I didn't see it in the cinemas but my parents had recorded 1 and 2 off the tv and I used to repeatedly watch it. I adored it as a nipper. Was a great movie and I felt was nearly as good as a classic Disney film.

I adore the first movie. And Fieval Goes West was a lot of fun. I have a lot of fond memories of watching those two movies over and over with my sister when we were little. And we thought it was so cool to finally see some Jewish cartoon characters. :D

And I wasn't even aware of the direct-to-video sequels until they aired on Toon Disney about 2 years ago. God, they looked awful!

And wasn't there a Fieval TV series at some point? I swear I remember watching it as a kid but I might be mistaken.

That bugs me, too. Even when I was a kid, hearing that song turned into a romantic ballad via the pop version that was all over the radio just seriously grossed me out. :ack:
Even today, whenever I see that "Greatest Love Songs" CD commercial, I gag because it shows a couple making out to that song. YUCK!!

Haven's seen American Tail in a long time, don't think I've ever seen Fival Goes West... But I will give it this: Dreams to Dream is an awesome song! I download a .wav file of it back in college (like, 7 years ago. I was looking for Flying Dreams, and ended up with Dreams to Dream as well) and it really made an impression on me. YouTubed it recently. Aparently the song litterally enchanted a guy off the street. And I find that completely believable. It'd charm me off the street if I heard it... Whomever did Tanya's singing voice should be proud.

Somewhere Out There was pretty cool too. (This franchise did well by its songs) Though I think I actually perfer the pop version. I heard it pretty often back in the day, and it doesn't have any squeaky kid voices...

That was actually Cathy Cavadini(Blossom on PPG...in fact its the same voice). Shame she hasn't been giving other singing roles in animation after that, she has some real singing range.

Come to think of it though, she really hasn't done much major VA work since PPG ended...

Yeah, there was. I remember it since I used to watch in on Saturday mornings when I was a kid. The main thing I remember was that Fieval and his family were still living out West in the series.
