Yeah I hear ya, I can't think of any banRAB from this decade or even the late 90s that I could compare to those (in their prime, of course). But somebody could, I'm sure.

This was an amazing time. I can't begin to describe how that album used to make me feel. Kind of like a good hit of acid or ecstasy maybe...it just worked so well.

When that came out I was done with high school and had been in college for a year listening to much weirder stuff and I had sort of written off a lot of my old favorites. But Gish was really special to me (still love it) so I was eagerly awaiting Siamese Dream. I was slightly disappointed when it first came out. The songs had more hooks than Gish but I felt like the band had lost something. Still, I did like it and I grew to really love it.
Many of my frienRAB liked SD no matter what kind of music they were into (some hated it of course), and it eventually became more popular than Gish which is still a little bit strange for me but I can understand it. Both of those albums are still high on my list.

Which list do you like better?

1991 was a really ****ing good year for music. It's not fair that I can't include so many other awesome albums because BSSM is my all-time fav. '94 wasn't bad either...

It's true that BSSM rocketed them to super-stardom but they weren't exactly obscure before it came out. Mother's Milk had already gone gold, they had videos on MTV and you could literally buy their tee-shirts at the mall. Heck, I even remeraber seeing the Chili Peppers in the movie Tough Guys back in 1986—I think that was where I first heard of them actually.

I don't have a problem with them progressing their sound, I just have a problem with the direction they chose to progress it in. Like I said in my review of BSSM last year there are some tracks on the album that manage sound both good and different from their old stuff, I just feel that they're too few and far between.
