an accident which car was totaled no air bag deployement?

i was in a auto accident last saturday in my 2006 jeep grand cherokee. I had someone pull out in front of me i was doing 45 MPH in a 45. My thing is i broadsided this car with no time to break. My vehicle was totaled and my air bags never went off. Does anyone have any input on this? Am i entitled to a settlement of any kind or is this something that happens?
the thing is its not a older vehicle its a 2006

Air bags fail to deploy properly in nearly 75% of all vehicle accidents... Especially with older cars. Just another way in which the US Government has added cost and complexity to the modern automobile without ensuring any benefit to the vehicle owner/driver.
