I have 2 rockford fosgate 8" punch subs powered by a 1200W rockford fosgate amp in my car. I bought the car with the system already finished. My question is whenever my system is on for about 20 mins or so my amp will shut off and subs will ultimately shut off also. I have done research and 2 12" Rockford Fosgate punch subs have a max RMS of 800W so that cancels out my subs overdrawing my amp. I've checked all the wires including the ground and everything is ok. What could be the problem? Faulty amp? Bad wiring? Any leads would be helpful.

* If you're sure the amp shuts down, I have no answer. Speaker systems are designed to shut down on overlaod rather than blow.

My first thought is that the amp is overheating and is going into protection mode. If the previous owner didn't have any problems then you should be okay. The only thing I can think of is that your amp is going bad. Good luck
