There are hundreds of units for you to choose from depending on how much you want to spend. There are links below for ideas or you can go to a local Best Buy, etc. to see what they have.

I got a turntable for christmas, and i got a surround sound speaker system.
i played the turntable through this old 70s receiver and it hardly works cause the receiver is so old, the speakers are fine though.

i tried playing the turntable through the speaker system's main unit (where i plug the Audio-In's and all the speakers) and i can turn up the volume all the way and the music plays at a whisper!

im able to blast my xbox 360 and my mp3 player and my computer through it, but the turntable doesnt play loud at all.

so i need to buy an amplifier right? any recommendations or is there some alternative?

if i need to buy something, i just need it to work, nothing crazy fancy, thanks!
and how will i know if the receiver will amplify the turntable? the receiver now just doesnt seem to wanna play my records loud, how will i know others wont be the same?
