amish people dont associate with people outside their society. but yet why do

they do business with them? they make fireplaces and clothes and stuff and sell them to the outside world. but why?? if they dont want any contact with the outside world, why make a profit off of us?
i could understand that they are trying to make a living but i thought they dont need to make a living because they do and make everything theirselves
 
Two reasons.
1. They saw what happened when Mormons attempted to go their own way.
The US Army arrived.
2. Income and taxes signify recognition of a larger society.
This is something they agree being a partner to.
