Have You ever considered the astounding dichotomy of the US culture? We are, simultaneously, the most repressed and repressive, yet most perverse culture on Earth. You cannot show a female body part on TV without evoking squeals of unmitigated horror from every quarter, yet so many of us will watch "Torture-Porn" without blinking an eyelash. We want Gay Rights, but We elect Fundamentalist Christians that believe the earth is only 6,000 years old for leaders. We say we believe in equality for all, but the poor Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians of America are some of the most looked down upon, ground under by the rich and snobby, people on Earth.

Will the societal pressure caused by all of this one day cause our Country to tear itself to pieces?
I could not agree more Devil's Reject

And Clay, I'm sure they are.

I do so agree, totally

What's to say it hasn't already been done?
What's to say while we're thinking we're losing this fight, we've already lost it a long time ago?
What if the good ol' American culture has already been destroyed, but we're to desensitized to see it?
What if we're already halfway through with our proverbial travel to Hell in a handbasket, as PJ said?

since this country can't be attacked from the outside so easily, it'll be destroyed from the inside out. just like every other great empire in the past, this empire will eventually go down as well. i'm 19 and i don't think is gonna happen in my lifetime but unfortuanately, it'll happen.

It's a recipe for a collision course with disaster. At some point something has got to give and it will be society as we know it. I don't think we are good as Rome was in the heyday of their empire, but that doesn't mean we can't fall to pieces like they did. If things don't start to change, we completely come apart and then the vultures will start picking the pieces. Perhaps people who make the sci fi movies like The Road Warrior aren't far off about the future.
