American Pie - Flogging a Dead Horse

It's inevitable... Eugene Levy will be there.

Really Hoping that Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Eddie kay Thomas, Thomas Nicolas & Sean William Scott will ALL be involved.

Would also be good to see Alyson Hannigon, Tara Ried, Natasha Lyonne, Mena Suvari, Jennifer Coolidge (Stiflers Mom), Chris Owen (Shermanator), John Cho & Justin Isfield (The Milf Guys).

I'm not liking the idea of the film being about Jim having KiRAB, there should be a School Re-union, great reason for the whole original cast to be there... plus it has been 10/11 years since they left.

The later ones were all straight to video. The movie business is weird that way, they musta made them on cable budgets or something, somehow the economics worked even though none of em were theater worthy.

I absolutely hated all the American Pie films because quite frankly, they were typical american so-called comedy which to me, were totally unfunny, complete tripe, and downright embarrassing to watch.

Now, years ago, the american film industry knew how to make comedies because in those days there were the characters:

Mickey Rooney, Martin and Lewis, Red Skelton, Phil Silvers, Milton Berle etc.

Today, I find american comedy totally unfunny and a complete waste of time.

I am amazed some people still enjoy them though, something lacking somewhere.

I don't think it's something lacking it's just that like everything humour has changed. Chaplin has never made me laugh. He's never made any of my family laugh. I don't know anyone that laughs at Chaplin but when he was releasing films he made the world laugh.

Times change and what people laugh at changes with them. I'm sure if you showed films starring the people you have listed they would fail to get laughs with so many people not just younger ones.
Phil Silvers was and will always be Bilko. I can't think of anything else he has done that is funny.

When I was younger I liked Jerry Lewis. Now I watch the films and they do nothing for me. They don't even make me crack a smile. It's interesting that people today will look at him and say unfunny but will watch Jim Carrey and Lee Evans who have both taken a lot of Lewis's style and routines and they will crack up.

I agree with you that so many of todays comedies aren't funny especially juvenile stuff like these American Pie films but I don't agree that older was necessarily better.

Only heard of mickey rooney:P

Sorry, but thats how it works, things are only funny in their time and generation as said. Its why you don't rotfl at chaplin films, in fact you'll barely get a chuckle out of a modern person watching chaplin, people watch as film appreciation more than for laughs. Just how it works. Mickey Rooney draws a blank stare from me lol

The later films might be just a way of working the subsidy game in canada.
