American Pie - Flogging a Dead Horse

Whilst looking for the producers of About a Boy (I knew it was the same people who did American Pie I just couldn't remember if they directed or produced) I went into Chris Weitz page on IMDB, to my utter shock there is going to be a American Pie 4, I was going to find out more but its all hidden in IMDB pro. Now I stopped watching the AP series properly after number two. I have American Pie and American Pie 2 on dvd because it gives me good memories of around the time I saw them but also I just think they are good films.

Sadly the 3rd film was a little bit pants in my opinion, it didn't seem needed and just seemed to be over the top for the sake of being over the top but hey, I guess for an hour and a half it was acceptable.

Now I know other AP films have been made but how many do you think were made? Not including AP4? Well according to IMDB I saw at least 7 AP films that had been made. Most of these from what I can gather never saw the cinema and were straight to DVD releases but 7?? I mean come on! Even I think that is pushing it a little. There must be a market I guess otherwise they wouldn't make them but come on, that

There is some other one coming this Thursday on Sky Movies Premiere called "American Pie presents:The book of love" and I didn't even know about that one.

I've seen the first 3, and that was it. Didn't even bother with Band Camp. But Eugene Levy is also in the first one I mentioned above.

AP is not the only one to drag out needless movies - Bring it On has about 5 sequels or something like that, each one a varying degree of mediocrity, and The Prince & Me kept going, and going, even though they kept changing the actors who play the main characters.

The book of love is already on Sky Prem this week. Saw it last night.

It has a few tits in it, thats about as good as it gets, but I would say watch it once and that is probably it.

I'd say don't watch it at all. It's utter tripe.

I love the first 3, but i don't even count the other spin oRAB.

'Band Camp' and 'Naked Mile' were awful, 'Beta House' was just about "Okay", and then 'Book of Love' was atrocious.

That said, if they got all of the original cast back together i'd welcome a proper AP4. Ten years later and they've all got kiRAB could be an entertaining scenario.

I've only seen the first one and as I thought that was risible unfunny drivel have never felt the need to watch any more of them. Still, they wouldn't make 'em if'n there wasn't an audience of some sort to pay them a return on their investment. Takes all sorts.

They seem to work on the principal of "If we make all the new A.P. films worse than the last one the first three will be considered as major epics". The latest film is a collection of jokes that have been done over and over again by better folk that these kiRAB. The routine in the clothes shop when one nerd gets all hot under his collar and fumbles at a clothes stand of tiny bras is the best example of an over done (poor) joke. Watch it once then forget it. 2 out of 10 and that is being kind.

Ive seen the first 2 and just did not find them funny at all
Porky's will always remain my fav adult/teen comedy so many LOL moments Miss Ballbreaker fighting with a "tallywacker" just does not compare to shoving your shaft in a warm apple pie :p

The First 3 films are in my oppinion some of the best films ever made and i absolutely love em.

As for the spin-oRAB it makes me angry that these horrible exuses for films actually get made only to disgrace the American Pie name... Why do they keep making these? they are that shit that they only go to DVD.

When you say 'they are making an AP 4' Do you mean with the Original Cast? Also as this is 'the internet' how do you know it's not a load of tripe...

Unfortunatly the only place I have seen this being refered to is the now infamous iMDB pro (I am still tempted to get an account) so at this point I know very little about it. If it was some kind of a 10 years on where are they now film it could very well be interesting and I would be interested in seeing it but honestly I don't hold out too much hope.

The first one was good but the second one was just stupid.
Really cringe worthy and "oh my god they all feel ways about stuff"!
I watched it when I was a teenager and I FELT WAYS ABOUT STUFF TOO!
OH MY GOD.

I started watching band camp but it was balls so I turned it off.

The wedding one was stupid too but I hate Alison Hannigans stupid character (these movies have tainted the brilliant How I Met Your Mother for me a bit!) every time I see her I just see a smelly little girl.
Ugh.

I read last night in a very recent article that they are actually writing a script for this and the two directors from Harold & Kumar have signed up to direct it. They are going to try their best to re-unite as many of the original cast possible.

I caught part of it this morning. Let's just say that if you find the idea of a lad vomiting all over the girl he's about to sodomize hilarious - and if you're rolling on the floor wetting yourself at the idea of the lad's mother showing him a videoclip of said puking the next day - then this film is for you.

To think that the still foxy Rosanna Arquette's career* has sunk to the point of appearing in the same movie as Kevin Federline - KEVIN FEDERLINE - and Screech from Saved By The Bell.

*Rosanna plays the aforementioned lad's mom.

This is from this site posted back in February this year.

Universal has hired Harold And Kumar writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg to pen a fourth theatrical American Pie movie.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the studio is looking to reboot the film series with several members of the cast from the 1999 original.

American Pie, which starred Seann William Scott, Jason Biggs, Shannon Elizabeth and Alyson Hannigan, centred on high schoolers looking to lose their virginity before graduation. The film grossed more than $200 million worldwide and spawned two sequels, American Pie 2 and American Wedding.

Four direct-to-DVD films followed in the series - Band Camp, The Naked Mile, Beta House and The Book Of Love - all featuring Eugene Levy's character Noah Levenstein.

There was then another posting about it on this site at the start of April.

Harold & Kumar creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have signed to direct American Pie 4.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the duo are also writing the script for the fourth instalment for Universal.

The studio hopes to reunite the cast of the original comedy trilogy, including Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, Alyson Hannigan, and Shannon Elizabeth.

Universal is eying a summer production start date for the movie.

Director Todd Strauss Schulson will reportedly take over the Harold & Kumar franchise with the upcoming third instalment starring John Cho and Kal Penn.
