American Idiot Review

Alfred your a reasonable guy, one who evens like U2, and I'll give you that because despite my disdain for them, I realize different strokes for different folks, what's your opinion?

Do you think people who rip Green Day do so more because they actually don't like them or because they are bitter they got so big while other seemingly as or more deserving acts did not?

there's nothing wrong with something being catchy or poppy, MJ, but if it's totally derivative, bland, insipid and creatively bankrupt at the same time and brings nothing new to the table at all, then it's reprehensible crap.

I don't actually like them and I have listened to many songs by them. I think they are atrocious and completely at odRAB with what i look for in Punk. No matter what their music is percieved as now, they started as a punk band and turned into making bland stadium rock. My best friend loves them and I don't knock him for that but I also do not understand why he likes them either.

I actually do agree to some extent with you.
The album wasn't nearly as good as you make it out to be
But it was an above average mainstream rock album
It its not anything particularly special or different
But is not nearly as bad as a lot of people say it is

Sorry you have been relegated to the subs bench. You can win back my undying affection by posting about your new found love of Reggae in the Reggae section! ;)

dookie was a pretty good pop punk album which i certainly enjoyed at the time of its coming out. i don't think american idiot is a good album. some of the songs might be catchy, but catchy does not equate to good. millions of songs are catchy in an irritating way, and that's exactly what i think of greenday's more recent material.

Anyway, I simply don't like American Idiot. It has nothing to do with their popularity (RHCP is one of my fav banRAB RAB).

...

I dunno, really, I can enjoy a Green Day song, even an American Idiot one (if I'm in a good mood), but, idk, there's something about it that, is kind of phony. I don't hate Green Day, but I don't like them.

I used to be in love with them when American Idiot came out though. But I was what, 10? It might be an outgrowing thing too. I gave up Sum 41 recently too. Kinda childish.

I love the stuff from Dookie and before though. 1000 Hours is easily my favorite song my them.

I think a lot of people who rip on them have a personal bias.
