I saw this film for the first time last night and have to say i was blown away. Edward Norton was fantastic in his role and when i googled the film i was quite surprised to notice it was a complete flop only making 24 million in the u.s . Is anybody else a fan ?

oh and the ending i cried i didnt see it coming at all.

I absolutely loved American History X. I haven't seen it for a while but it's still fresh in my mind. Edward Norton is absolutely compelling in his role. The scene where he tells the black guy to eat the kerb is horrible.

The second Norton movie I saw after Primal Fear. I taught at the time that Romper Stomper covered it better, but Norton was pretty good in this. It was Romper Stomper with a concience.

Brilliant, brilliant movie.

The way Ed Norton's character stomps on the head of the kid who tried to rob his house, and the sight of him practically naked with only that horrid tattoo over his heart - those two images will stay with me forever.

That was the worldwide total. It only made $7 million in the US and $17 million outside the US. The budget was ~$20 million, so it wasn't profitable, but it wasn't a huge loss.

The critics liked it and it got good word of mouth. A lot more people have seen it on DVD than in the cinema.

it's a great film but certainly disturbing to many and not what you may call a "date film" or something too many women would want to see. The scene of the jaw being opened and the head smashed on the curve, haunts me to this day:eek:

Tim Roth was superb as Trevor. He was only 16 when he got the role, and he hanRAB in an Oscar worthy performance. Considering you didnt even know who I was talking about when I mentioned Trevor in a skinhead movie thread I'm pretty certain you havent even seen Made In Britain, so I don't know what you're chuckling about. ;)

I can agree with this and thats why i never watched or it or knew much about it. But when i said to a few frienRAB i had never seen it and they all said if im into films i need to watch it as its amazing when i saw it on sky movies i decided i should watch it , and even tho im in no hurry to watch it again i can still say its a fantstic film and very well acted .

It wasn't a Skinhead Movie.
Made in Britain was an average gritty TV play about a thug with no hair directed by Alan Clarke from 1982. Although it was a good launch for Roths career, he could never have won an Oscar anyway because it was a TV play.
Actually I saw it when it was shown on UTV in Spring 1982.
While the acting was good but a little OTT, you can only throw so much bricks through so many windows and lash out and shout B0ll0xs before it starts getting boring.
The other movies mentioned in this thead had a lot more substance and depth.
