I was very disappointed in this film it was totally inaccurate in its portrayal of Frank Lucas an the 60s/70s era lifestyle ...
I expected better from Ridley Scott....
so many bad mistakes were made in the filming it never really felt like the 60s an early 70s US,
just because you put actors in the era clothes an drive a few 60s cars about , doesnt make it a period drama ,
look how well Scorsese did with *The Godfather* films, in this the back drops were so modern it was awful ,
an if I saw 4 black men with afros that was it ,lol please Every *cat* in those days had a mighty afro ...an the way the blacks spoke it was so contrived ,
I could forgive the sloppy backdrops an issues with the black portrayals, but Denzel Washington just sleep walked his way through this film ,an dont get me started on the waivering oz accent of Russell Crowe....
This was a brilliant True Life story well worth telling but this dire film did it no favours at all , if you want to find out about it read the book "The Return of Superfly" by Mark Jacobson
The film was worth 4/10 for attempting to tell this story ...
