American Dad - "Rapture's Delight" - Talkback [12/13]

Didn't finish the episode, but it sounded like a gutsy way to end it. So I guess they get props for that.

And remember, it may still be considered canon even if Klaus is alive in the next episode, because future episodes could theoretically take place BEFORE this one in time. Chew on THAT for a while. ;)
 
That character's name is Hoss Delgado.

And I thought this episode was pretty tight, but there should've been more demon fights.

Edit: So as I expected the 3rd Christmas episode was going to be great. I found the educational puppet show to be hilarious and the comic book images of the battle to be cool. It was nice seeing Michelle again and it seems she's been promoted again. Also, I wish we could've seen Hayley's personal heaven. I was kind of hoping for the Anti-Christ to be that gay guy in the arena, but making him an impostor was okay too.

I was wondering when everything was going to straight to hell im the 3rd act . So 7 years later we see a bitter, older Stan in a bar and Jesus needs his help to save Francine from the Anti-Christ. It was nice that the writers borught made the golden poop come full circle for the episode, and when it changed to widescreen for a moment it looked like it was an actual movie.

Like most of the poster's thought, the Anti-Chtist reminded me of the Riddler (Adam West version) and I thought he was funny, but pretty lame (I did chuckle at his final words). I thought Stan died a very noble death and I owndered if it was going to end as a dream sequence. But I was suprised the status quo went back because of Stan's personal heaven. This episode didn't suck and it deserves a 9/10.
 
This episode proved how much better American Dad is than Family Guy IMO.

The writers might actually be tired of Klaus, I don't recall seeing much of him lately.

And OldGuy, I think the writers have gotten tired of falling back on Stan's profession, the first 2 seasons relied on the CIA almost every episode. I do think American Dad is one of the weirdest series to air on Network Television at all, it really knows how to embrace its surreal side and try new things.

And to HomeMoviesFan, I think once American Dad starts getting syndicated people will find out how awesome this series really is.
 
The third Christmas special was as great as the first two, though in a different way. Loved that Michelle got a cameo and... the Golden Turd? The writers finally remembered that thing? Wow.

I also liked how Stan was ready to write off Francine just to get Rapture'd. And then everything gets screwy and dark and seven years later... Jesus comes to ask Stan to help him save Francine. Awww...

As for the Anti-Christ... I immediately thought he was a twisted version of Jim Carrey's Riddler. AC is funny in the sense that being the exact opposite of Jesus in every way is not exactly the best thing in the world.

I liked the ending, too... a very believable way to get back to 'status quo.'
 
What an amazing episode. I love it when American Dad gets onto a more serious tack but still brings on the funny. It's the only Seth McFarlane show that can do it and it pays when they go down that road.

I loved Roger's introspective on religion. It's pretty much the mindset anyone who wasn't indoctrinated from birth would have. I can't believe they let Francine get away with her line, "then I've been naughty, and you'll have to put a big piece of coal in my stocking." Wow.

When Hayley was raptured, why did she keep her headband and necklace? Oh well, at least she lost what counted. :sweat:

The "educational" video on the rapture was absolutely hilarious. I loved when the video cut directly from the scary roaring hellbeast to "A Christian Kids Production!" with the roller-skating cross.

In Heaven, why was the angel wearing a modest business suit? Oh well, more naked Hayley, can't really complain. Still, curse you FCC and your restrictive rules on prime-time animated nudity!

The Antichrist was hilarious; definitely a sendup of The Riddler from Adam West's Batman, and truly the opposite of "Jesus Christ" in every way. All that buildup and he was quite possibly one of the most pathetic villains ever. But funny!

All in all a real Christmas classic.
 
That's a reference to the previous Christmas episode. The angel in this episode was Stan's lawyer in heaven, Michelle. (Now looking back, Michelle was also the Ghost of Christmas Past in the first special as well. I guess Michelle is going to be appearing in every Christmas special)
 
This episode was pretty good.

OMT, there is little or no continuity in shows like AMERICAN DAD,FAMILY GUY ,and THE CLEAVLAND SHOW. So this episode has no effect on any upcoming episodes. In a nutshell, this episode is an imaginary story.
 
Antichrist wasn't a direct reference to any specific character, the joke is just that we have all these brutal demons and hardcore action going on only to find out that the ultimate evil is the kind of "evil twin" villain you would expect in a 50's comic or kid show.
