American Dad moving to the 7:30/6:30c timeslot - your thoughts

Bob's Burgers premiers on FOX in January and that means American Dad will be shown 2 hours earlier, while that's good for the inpatient people and the hardcore AD fans it could cause trouble rating and availability wise because it might clash with the Football game and it might not be a good time for the Central and Mountain viewers because 6:30 will have the kiddies up and there might be a few more cuts/bleeps to compensate this.

Anyway what's your views on this?
 
For the life of me, I really can't understand why Fox is always so inclined to mess with American Dad. EVERY year it's something, which is usually removing it from the schedule entirely, in order to make room for their next Sunday night live-action flop.

If they're gonna move someone, move the Cleveland Show. That thing is... well, I don't like it. It is (subjectively) the worst of the three MacFarlane comedies. At least American Dad has its own identity, and doesn't have to rely on cutaway gags to be funny.
 
Let's see the reasons why AD was knocked off the schedule (it always seems to happen in March:confused:)

2006: The wait for the first 4 2AJN## episodes to be completed.
2007: Knocked off for some short-lived live action show (live action can stay away from FOX's sunday night schedule)
2008: The WGA writers strike (stupid TV networks messing everyone around:mad:)
2009: No Problems (thank god:))
2010: Knocked off AGAIN FOR ANOTHER UNSUCCESSFUL LIVE ACTION SHOW (I swear the FOX network have the mentality of Peter Griffin:mad:)

And also why couldn't they just move AD to the 7:30/6:30c slot in the first place last March:confused::mad::mad: Then we could have had a full 22 episode season:mad::mad: GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Also TCS is more of Mike Henry's show that Seth Macfarlane's, Seth just used his powers to get it on the air.
 
Fox should just stop trying, honestly. Every time they try to shaft AD it always backfires on them (Sons of Tuscon for example).

I kind of wish there was another night for Animation Domination to premiere cartoons but all of the weeknights are booked with dramas and the such.

This is definately not a World Premiere by the way. Someone says in the comments it was on in Australia 6 months ago and I remember watching it on Channel 4 way before that =/

Also, don't forget between September-February there won't be room to put AD at 7.30 because of the NFL Postgame show
 
FOX should make a third hour on Friday nights at 8 since they only air House repeats then.

Here's a sample schedule:

Friday

8:00pm Family Guy (new)
8:30pm Bob's Burgers (new)

Sunday

8:00pm The Simpsons (new)
8:30pm The Cleveland Show (new)
9:00pm Family Guy (repeat)
9:30pm American Dad (new)

This way Bob's Burgers could get help from Family Guy.
 
The Simpsons Movie has also been played on FX in the US several times within the past year (then again, that's cable, not broadcast).



Wasn't that the year it got knocked off the schedule for a month or two for some talent show program, though? I know it happened either last year or the year before.

But yeah, American Dad is moved/removed every year around February and brought back to 9:30 by April. It happens like clockwork that no one should be worried at the moment. Unless Bob's Burgers is an actual hit, AD! isn't in any more danger than King of the Hill was for the longest time (as in, they try to kill it, but it just stays alive).
 
Noooo! Friday is the worst slot for TV. They only schedule stuff on Friday if they're gonna cancel it

Imo, they should have 2 Animation Domination blocks. One on Sunday and one on thursday. If Fringe and Lie to Me get cancelled, then House and Bones can just air on Mondays

Then you got The X Factor US...

Would make much more sence to extend Animation Domination to 10pm :sweat:
 
But who watches TV on a Friday Night?:confused: And ABC aired The Goode Family Friday Nights in the SUMMER (i.e. they never really wanted it in the first place)

Yes it would but FOX have meet up to their PSB standards by showing the local news at 10pm:sad: pfft ABC, CBS, NBC all how local news slots anyway and The CW doesn't have local news slots IDT?

Ugh at least it got death sloted and not just taken off but this still annoys me this just makes me want to give Bobs Burgers even less of a chance then I already did.
 
The 7pm hour is the most likely to get preempted by sports. It's the same death slot that Futurama and King of the Hill were often put at to fend for themselves.

It's as I've always said, American Dad is basically MacFarlane's Futurama; a great underappreciated witty cartoon that the network is always unsure of, constantly has to live in the towering shadow of its older brother, and probably won't be truly respected by the right audience until after it's canned.
 
Well, if you consider the fact that most of the shows that air at the 7:00 PM Hour on FOX normally get pre-empted by sporting events like their coverage on Baseball, Football, NASCAR, and their respective post-game shows. Though, if a sporting event ends earlier before 7, post-game ends at 7:45, they'll cut right into the middle of whatever show was on at that time, with a message saying "Due to the length of today's Football game, we return you to the regularly scheduled episode of King of the Hill, already in progress." I remember that happening a few times, one instance I can recall is during the episode where Bobby became a paper boy for the Arlen Bystander.

Though if a sporting event runs past 8:00 and and let's say that post-game ends at 8:20, they'll run the entire episode of the Simpsons that was supposed to start at 8:00 at 8:20 instead, the rest of the line-up will also follow suit. They don't normally fix their schedule until around midnight IIRC.
 
No. People don't watch television on Friday nights. Family Guy is a leader of their Animation Domination block, whether or not people want to admit it. Putting new episodes of the show on Friday draws advertising hype away from the block and would be a terrible idea. Not to mention that it's a guaranteed fail for Burgers.
