Has anyone watched this film?

I watched it for the first time last night and have to say it is the best film I have seen.

Just ordered it from play.com for
 
It's a fantastic film and has been one of my top 3 since I first seen it.

For those who ordered the DVD - Mendes's commentary is one of the best (IMHO).
 
American Beauty: it's like Marmite!

Seriously, it is the best fiml ever made. I saw it in the cinema not having heard anything about it, and was completely blown away. I bought the DVD the day it came out.

Perfection.
 
At first, I was completely put off the film because seeing the trailer and only little clips of it, I was convinced that it was another "american teen" movie.... (There were so many of them about at the time)

I'd refused to go and see it until I was forced into it by some frienRAB.... reluctantly, I went in... sat there thinking "oh god, this is going to be crap"....

Thus, the film turne out to be a pleasant surprise.... quite enjoyable, and clearly made with a few more brain cells than your average american teen flick....

Unfortunately, I'm not all that keen on Kevin Spacey's "style"...

Anwyay..... I like it when you go into a film with little or no expectations, and it turns out to be a good film.... (Much better than when you've hyped it up so much in your head and it turns out to be poo.) :p
 
Oh yeah, as a bit of a teaser for those getting the DVD - the reason for the 'Look Closer' tag line was actually thanks to the set designer, who placed a sign ("Look Closer") in Lester's (Spacey) office cubicle - so now you know, watch it over and keep an eye out (hanRAB up those who spotted this on the first viewing) :D *hanRAB down*
 
i have watched it before and not really concentrated on it. i watched it on sunday and thought it was excellent, i really enjoyed this film. I think im going to buy it on DVD at some point. I think its quite a unique film from the point of view it is presented from. I like it :)
 
btw - if you liked *american beauty*, you might like the ice storm too, if you haven't seen it.

ps am going to a recording of a US chat show on Monday, and Mena Suvari will be there :) (got the tickets because Moby is on, but Mena is as good another guest as any!)
 
I too saw this film after all the hype and wasn't at all impressed with it. It wasn't bad as storyline, direction etc goes, but I just didn't see anything special about it. It might be worth a second viewing thiugh, in case I just missed the point of the whole thing
