America secularism

It seems that the political climate is in a religious frenzy at the moment. Do you imagine that America will become less religious in public matters/political or will this religious climate stay with us?
Is this climate sincere or just an attempt to please the religious right?

For the most part, it is insincere, a way to win over the votes of the Christian right. Will it stay with us? Ufortunately, unless something is done to challenege the growing wave of Christian fundamentalism in this country, I don't think we will see a return to secularism anytime soon.

I think that as public religious sentiment rises, and the problems with public religious sentiment again becomes apparent, we'll see a backlash that acknowledges the wisdom of maintaining the secular nature of public space.

And how do you feel about Liberals campaigning in African American Churches (which is illegal) for their vote?

The problem is the American people want a secular gov. but the want the country based on the precepts of God.............

When it comes to this subject Liberals are in a lose lose situation......

Or I could say I don't care if the principles are based on the precepts of God, there is no God mentioned in the original founding of this country in any legal documents. Are you now claiming democracy to be a religious concept? I want a secular government and I don't give a $hit whether the principles are based on the precepts of God, as long as they aren't based on God and religion. I'm fine with having the same laws (don't kill) because they make sense. Draw out the best from religion, but don't put religion as an institution into the government, that's when trouble starts.
